I ❤️ strength workouts!!!!
Obviously no secret that I love to workout. It’s my “me” time and I do try and make time for myself almost daily. Whether I’m actually working out, reading or simply chilling on the sofa with my heated blanket. This time is important to me 🙏
From about 12 weeks PP I have been doing dedicated strength workouts at least 2x/week and let me tell you the difference it has made to my return to run and confidence to get back on my running plan.
Strength is key 🔑 for running! It has so many benefits that you should not overlook!
It helps to strengthen all your muscles, joints and bones. It helps to decrease injuries by correcting muscle imbalances. Helps to improve running form and economy (I’ve noticed a big difference on running hills). It helps you gain more speed and helps burn more calories 🔥
If you’re not already incorporating strength into your running plan, start by adding in 1-2 sessions per week 💪 focus on unilateral exercises like lunges and step ups as well as those that develop core strength. Compound exercises like squats and deadlifts are very beneficial for strengthening running related muscles!

I took a mulligan 🤦🏻‍♀️ I couldn’t close all my rings today as I’ve been suffering from the worst migraine I’ve had in years. Nothing could get me to move yesterday 😭

Sometimes it’s just not worth the pain
I’m bummed but I am going to keep going and close my rings every day for the rest of this month and I’ll see how far I go February I can make it too 🎉

You guys are all doing great at closing your rings. Keep it up and let’s keep each other motivated 💪

Alright, I’ve got a treat for you.
Who is in for a healthy start to 2023?!

Who has an Apple Watch? (You don’t need one to take part in this challenge)

I am kicking off the New Year with a fitness/movement challenge where we close our rings, daily!

Everyday we commit to moving in any way that suits you, that can be running, walking, yoga, biking, meditation etc. ANY way you want 🙏

For Apple Watch users, commit to closing our movement (calories), exercise minutes and stand hours goals daily and for non Apple Watch users you can commit to a calorie or step count and exercise minutes!!

For example, I have my movement set to 500 calories, 30 exercise minutes and 12 stand hours daily. You should aim to set your movement goal by no more than 300-600 calories a day.

Let’s start 2023 off right 🎉
