Bullying can happen anywhere—at school, online, in workplaces, and within social circles. Its impact on mental health is real and long-lasting, often leading to anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, and isolation.

This week is a reminder that every one of us plays a role in creating safer, kinder environments.

Today is World Kindness Day :)

A reminder that even small moments of care can create real change in our mental health and in our communities.

Research shows that simple acts of kindness can increase serotonin, boost life satisfaction, and even lower stress hormones in both the giver and the receiver. In one study, people who practiced small daily acts of kindness reported a significant drop in anxiety within just one week.

Kindness doesn’t have to be big or public. It can look like giving someone your full attention, being patient with a partner, sending a supportive message, or choosing to treat yourself with the same compassion you offer others.

If today feels heavy, let this be a gentle reminder that kindness isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection.

And connection is something we all deserve, especially on the hard days.

Take care of yourself and each other today.

This week is International Stress Awareness Week — a good moment to pause and check in with yourself:

• How’s your body feeling today?
• Has your mind felt crowded or quiet?
• Are you rushing through moments you don’t need to rush through?
• When was the last time you genuinely exhaled?

Stress is a human experience — not a personal failure or a sign you’re “not coping well enough.”

Awareness doesn’t fix everything, but it creates a little more space to breathe, and sometimes that’s the first step that matters.

If today feels full, start small: one slower breath, one gentle moment, one tiny reset.

Those count.

In honour of Halloween — a little reminder that courage doesn’t always look like bold leaps or fearless moments.
Sometimes it’s the quiet, steady choices that help us keep going.

It’s speaking honestly when it would be easier to stay quiet.
It’s setting a boundary even when it feels uncomfortable.
It’s asking for help when you’re used to being the strong one.

Bravery isn’t the absence of fear — it’s moving gently with it.

OCD is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions — often minimized, mislabeled, or turned into a joke. But the truth is, it’s not about being tidy or liking things “just right.” It’s about anxiety, fear, and the endless loop of trying to find relief from intrusive thoughts.

Many people with OCD don’t look like the stereotype. Their symptoms can be silent, internal, and deeply distressing — replaying memories, seeking reassurance, or mentally neutralizing thoughts that feel unbearable. The mental effort can be exhausting.

This OCD Awareness Week, let’s move beyond myths and toward understanding. The words we use matter. The compassion we show matters even more. 💚

OCD isn’t about being “organized” or “particular.” It’s a complex mental health disorder rooted in anxiety, marked by intrusive thoughts and the urge to perform rituals or mental acts to find relief.

For the millions of people living with OCD worldwide, these cycles can be exhausting, isolating, and deeply misunderstood. That’s why awareness matters — because understanding reduces stigma, and compassion changes how we talk about it.

This OCD Awareness Week, let’s make space for real conversations. Let’s replace stereotypes with empathy, and assumptions with education. 💚

It’s easy to assume that school, friends, or social media are the biggest stressors in a teen’s life… but this may not be the case. Most teens say their hardest battles happen at home.

- 61% of teens report being emotionally hurt by a parent
- 28% live with a parent struggling with mental health

This isn’t about blame—it’s about raising awareness. Parenting is tough, and no one gets it perfect. But reflection helps.

✨ Ask yourself:
➡️ What did I need from my parents that I didn’t get?
➡️ What might my child need from me right now?

National OCD Awareness Week is one month away!!

Every October, communities around the world come together to raise awareness about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) — a condition that affects millions but is still often misunderstood.

OCD is more than being “organized” or “clean.” It involves intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours (compulsions) that can feel impossible to control. This can take a huge toll on daily life, relationships, and mental health.

At Lotus Counselling, we’re proud to support OCD Awareness Week (October 12–18, 2025) alongside the International OCD Foundation.

Let’s use this week (and every week) to break stigma, spread knowledge, and support those living with OCD. 💙

📅 Mark your calendars: October 12–18, 2025
