I came into running later in my life and was never really athletic in any way growing up. I didn’t even like running right away, (It felt soooo hard) but once I settled in and my body adapted, I grew to absolutely love it. What I didn’t realize is how much it would benefit my DJing🥳🥳🥳
🔸increased stamina to rock parties for hours and hours
🔸strong body to carry all my gear (records are friggin heavy
🔸self-awareness and confidence 🔸running is MY time to drop into my thoughts (which is why I don’t run with music/podcasts) Truly, the number of “things” I work out in my brain is pretty remarkable
🔸 RESILIENCE - I’m tough as nails, baby 😉
I don’t think running is for everyone but finding the type of movement that makes you feel GOOD is so important. How do you like to move? How does it trickle over into other parts of your life?

I am a (creepy) teapot - an analogy for pre-pandemic work habits. Tell my if this sounds familiar...
🫖 DJ clients were served a hot, perfectly steeped cup of tea in the finest teacups
🫖 family and friends got lukewarm, slightly bitter tea in chipped mugs
🫖 leaving the cold, soggy teabag for me... Then, the pandemic came along and suddenly I had all the hot tea I could ever want! I realized that I really enjoy hot tea (unless it’s a scorching summer day, in which case I’ll have a refreshing glass of iced tea)
Now that Im DJing again, I need to be able to serve hot tea to my awesome clients, plus the people I hold near and dear, and still have a cup for myself. This essentially means that I have to find that sweet work/life balance. Here’s what I’m doing: setting “office hours” for emails and admin duties. Reserving one full weekend a month to spend time with the fam. Saying yes to gigs that fill me up (or my teapot in this case 😉) and politely declining the ones that don’t. Carving out time JUST FOR ME. Performers, how do you find balance?!
I love what I do. I love my life. I love piping hot tea.

With gigs coming back, you can bet that I’m super effing excited 🤩TBH I’m also a touch nervous 😬 My daily routine looks verrrrry different today than it did pre-pando and it’ll take some time to ease into DJ life.
I’ve learned A LOT over the past 1.5 years (like the value of true rest) and will be taking a specific, somewhat athletic approach to my return to DJing in a more sustainable way, cus whoa, I didn’t realize how exhausted and burnt out I was!

Running a for reals in-person race this Saturday with 💥💥💥
I’m feeling those pre-race jitters even though the only person I’m racing is myself... or more accurately: my ego. I’m comfortable and quick over half marathon and up distances but I’m not sure how I’ll do in a 10km. Maybe I’ll crush it. Or maybe I’ll totally p**p the bed. I guess there’s only one way to find out 😏
I’m offering myself all the loving encouragement that I so easily give to running buds and clients, but it just doesn’t feel the same. So, my friends, if you can offer words of encouragement I’d sure appreciate it!🥰🥰🥰
