Join us in welcoming Circle of Lifeโ€™s latest member of the team, our very own administration and transfer vehicle! ๐Ÿšโœจ

As part of our 2025 expansion and commitment to serving families in all the ways we do, this week is an exciting new chapter (and appropriately just in time for Spring!) ๐ŸŒž

Much of what is required of us depends upon timely work carried out in a professional manner.

While this can often be outsourced to industry partners, by acquiring a company vehicle weโ€™re taking big steps towards a more independent and expedient level of service for those within our care.

Whether itโ€™s us receiving a decedent from place of death, delivery of confidential documents, or return of cremated remains to a residence we believe itโ€™s important that our names and faces be kept consistent for folks who choose Circle of Life ๐Ÿค

We look forward to where this takes us! ๐Ÿซถ

To all who celebrate, Happy St Patrick's Day from us!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’š

Enjoy this poem by William Butler Yeats, entitled The Sorrow of Love:

"The quarrel of the sparrows in the eaves,
The full round moon and the star-laden sky,
And the loud song of the ever-singing leaves,
Had hid away earth's old and weary cry.

And then you came with those red mournful lips,
And with you came the whole of the world's tears,
And all the sorrows of her labouring ships,
And all the burden of her myriad years.

And now the sparrows warring in the eaves,
The curd-pale moon, the white stars in the sky,
And the loud chaunting of the unquiet leaves
Are shaken with earth's old and weary cry."

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), widely considered one of the greatest poets of the English language, received the 1923 Nobel Prize for Literature. His work was greatly influenced by the heritage and politics of Ireland.

Paperwork of all kinds can be found at each and every step in the cremation process (and for good reason!) โšฑ๐Ÿ“

Since all funeral homes charge documentation-based service fees we felt it might benefit the consumer to understand how and why these often confusing pieces of paper function for a cremation to take place in Ontario๐Ÿงโœ…

With the typical turnaround from date of death to cremated remains received being roughly one week much is accomplished on a family's behalf in a relatively short space of time โณ

Death and the Maiden (1908) by Marianne Stokes (1855-1927)

Housed at the Musรฉe d'Orsay in Paris, this painting in the Pre-Raphaelite style depicts an encounter between a young woman in bed and a winged personification of death.

This intriguing piece draws on the Renaissance art motif of Der Tod und das Mรคdchen (Death and the Maiden), a type of gendered Memento Mori work representing the intimate interactions of life and death.

In a departure from her source material Stokes chooses to characterize death in a more human, feminine form complete with nun's headpiece and lantern (as opposed to something more skeletal bearing a scythe). Despite the clearly ominous arrival, a winged embrace and raised left hand offers reassurance to both maiden and viewer that this meeting might not be a final one, or perhaps that she has little to fear in what is yet to come ๐Ÿชฝ๐Ÿ–ค

Happy International Women's Day from all of us at Circle of Life! ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

As a woman-owned and operated funeral home within a traditionally male-dominant field we're keenly aware of the challenges and rewards that come with doing the work we do.

Funeral services are something of a sacred calling and we're empowered by the fact that throughout history it has largely been women who have carried the burden of end-of-life care and griefwork within their communities.

Join us today this March 8th in lifting up Karin, Darlene, Liz, and Issi as devoted exemplars of the profession who meet families in their time of need and walk alongside them through pain and loss.

By their tireless efforts this fab female foursome are breaking barriers each and every day, and for that we wish to celebrate them!

Over the past few decades cremation has steadily risen in Ontario to make up 75% of final disposition choices over traditional burial โšฑ๐Ÿ“ˆ

With that in mind many are faced with the question of what to do with cremated remains when they either can't afford a fancy urn or prefer not to keep them at home.

Thankfully, at Circle of Life Simply Cremations we recognize the value in scattering ashes and encourage you to consider it as a meaningful way of saying goodbye and in a place you might return to one day. It's one that especially appeals to the nature lovers and we're here for it! ๐ŸŒณโ›ฐ๏ธ

Have you scattered ashes before, and where? Let us know in the comments!

"Iโ€™m not a survivor; just still breathing.
I remember grief, loveโ€™s grand finale.
What else do we have if not the memory of life before this?
I cannot tell you how many lives Iโ€™ve lost to mourning, but I can tell you that the sky does what it does.
Letโ€™s go for a walk & touch the trees that survived like us."
