McMaster’s enhanced 18-month well-baby visit planner is a great tool for parents to use prior to their child’s enhanced 18-month well-baby visit.

The visit planner covers multiple areas of development and provides helpful sample questions for parents to consider for each of the different topics. The tool allows parents to prioritize the areas of their child’s development that they feel are the most important for discussion. The visit planner is available for free online and as a printable version.

McMaster University's Play&Learn is a great free resource for parents to support the healthy development of their children. This resource was created by experts in child development at McMaster University and the University of Toronto.

Play&Learn aims to provide parents with fun and engaging activities that they may perform with their children. The activities are categorized into three age groups; (toddler. Preschool, and kindergarten). For each age group, the activities are further separated into 4 different domains of development which consist of; thinking and learning, social and emotional, movement, and language.

The EYCI (Early Years Check-In) is a tool that allows parents to rate their level of concern regarding their child’s development.

The EYCI consists of 11 different topics, stemming from 4 domains; social and emotional, thinking and learning, language and movement.

This tool is extremely valuable as it is convenient and easy to use and the results allow parents and health professionals to see potential areas of concern and plan the appropriate course of action.
