I used to get asked all the time if I “must eat salads to stay in shape.”

Honestly?
I don’t eat salads unless they’re offered as a side at a restaurant — and always alongside my main meal.

If I tried to live on salads, I’d be starving, low-energy, and cranky — and for women in perimenopause and menopause, that’s a fast track to more hormone chaos.

So why do so many women think weight loss means eating salads every day?

👉 Because we were taught that more fruits and vegetables = weight loss.

Here’s the truth — especially after 40:

Simply eating more fruits and vegetables does not automatically lead to weight loss.

Research shows that increasing fruits and vegetables without changing the rest of your intake doesn’t reliably cause weight loss or gain.

And for peri- and post-menopausal women, the issue isn’t just calories — it’s:
• Blood sugar regulation
• Muscle preservation
• Cortisol and stress
• Energy levels
• Metabolic changes

Fruits and vegetables are important. They provide:
✔ Fiber
✔ Micronutrients
✔ Gut support

But they don’t replace protein, healthy fats, or enough total fuel.

Living on salads often leads to:
• Constant hunger
• Low energy
• Muscle loss
• Increased cravings
• Slower metabolism

Especially during this phase of life.

Weight loss after 40 isn’t about eating less food —
it’s about eating the right balance of food.

Our January 5th indoor fitness session starts in just 3 days, and we’re getting excited to welcome both returning and new members into class!

• 45-minute efficient workouts
