What is important is not to make too much of our experience. We love to create magical meaning and elevate ourselves through our so called spiritual experience, imaging ourselves to be special. But from the point of view of Dzogchen, everything is to be liberated for presence has no ground or root. Good things should go free, bad things go free. If we get attached to the moments when we have good health and all is going well, then when we get sick, we can become unhappy because we have attached our sense of happiness on an experience.
Enjoyment is different than attachment. Enjoyment is in the moment, attachment seeks continuation of the moment. The key then is to relax, be present in the moment, use each moment, each arising as a means of returning to instant present that rests on nothing. The more you practice in the view, the more everything becomes a teaching for you, so that every song you hear, the food you eat, or standing in a queue in the supermarket, everything becomes a revelation of the nature of mind.
Everything changes when we awaken to the realization that awareness is unborn, is not a thing, is not resting anywhere. Then all our assumptions, all the beliefs that we have relied upon and have taken to be true about ourselves and our world, turn out to be false. Instead of helping us, these beliefs have just maintained the confusion. But when we see that our nature is infinite and beyond conditioning, then we can simply relax and be present with both stillness and movement, realizing that this very moment is all we ever have.
