What is Tranquility?

Tranquility is an internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) program. It is being offered to Nova Scotians 16+ experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression.

We're here to help Nova Scotians 16+ experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression. There is no cost to users of the program.

Nova Scotia is experiencing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and an increase of cases are due to COVID-19 variants with evidence of community transmission in all of the NSHA Zones.

In response to this, we will be switching all clinic appointments to telephone visits to help reduce the risk of transmission within our community and facility and to protect our patients, staff, and physicians.

If the physician feels you need to be seen in person, we will schedule an appointment for you. If you are to be seen in clinic, please *postpone* your visit if you have any fever or respiratory symptoms (cough, sore throat, nasal congestion).

We also want to encourage you to avoid using the ER for non-urgent concerns.

Expanded list

People with one or more of the following updated list of symptoms are asked to visit 811's website:

Fever (chills, sweats).
Cough or worsening of a previous cough.
Sore throat.
Headache.
Shortness of breath.
Muscle aches.
Sneezing.
Nasal congestion/runny nose.
Hoarse voice.
Diarrhea.
Unusual fatigue.
Loss of sense of smell or taste.
Red, purple or bluish lesions on the feet, toes or fingers that do not have a clear cause.

In all likelihood, if you have these symptoms, it's not because of COVID, but it's very important we test you to rule out COVID," Strang said.

*COVID ASSESSMENT CENTER*
Buchanan Memorial is officially one of Cape Breton's COVID-19 assessment centers. This is being run separately from our usual clinic and ER, with booked appointments Monday-to-Friday from 1-5pm (no walk-ins).

Changes to the screening criteria:
Screening will be based only on symptoms - presence of TWO OR MORE of: fever (signs of fever), new or worsening cough, sore throat, runny nose and/or headache.

BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT: To schedule an appointment, you can call 811, or be referred from your family physician. Since the 811 lines may be backed up, we will have reserved telephone clinic slots for those who would like a COVID referral from their physician - you can call 902 336 2300 and let Debbie or Margaret know that you'd like a COVID assessment referral.
