Trainers Haven We are Guelph and KW’s leader in bridging the gap between Fitness and Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation.

Trainers Haven is owned and operated by Albert Klein and was established in 1998. We are Guelph and KW’s leader in bridging the gap between Fitness and Injury Rehab. Albert combines his credentials as a Certified Athletic Therapist and Registered Massage Therapist with his Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Registered Kinesiologist qualifications to provide his clients with a unique approach to health and fitness. Shortly after starting his Biological Science Degree at the University of Guelph, Albert got accepted into a combined program with Sheridan College in Sports Injury Management. He graduated in 2001 with a Human Kinetics Degree and a Sports Injury Management Diploma and used this education along with his Athletic background to quickly become a top Personal Trainer at GoodLife Fitness Club where he worked from 2000-2005. During his 5 years at GoodLife, Albert helped hundreds of Clients achieve their fitness and wellness goals and received numerous nominations for Trainer of the Year. While working at GoodLife, Albert was also quickly becoming sought after by individuals looking for Exercise and Rehab Services in the comfort of their own homes. Through his innovative Group/Sports Conditioning program called ACTION1 (Athletic Circuit Training 1-ON-1), Albert was also helping various Sports Teams get the competitive edge on the opposition. ACTION1 also quickly became one of Guelph’s most exciting and effective Group Conditioning programs being offered in Gymnasiums, Parks, and Corporate Offices around town. In 2005 Trainers Haven opened a Studio at 17 Pinnacle Crescent in Guelph where it still offers all of its services today. Most recently (since 2014) Trainers Haven now also operates a Studio in Kitchener at 82 Hawkswood Drive and runs ACTION1 at River Ridge Park (near Kiwanis Park, Kitchener).

Last year on September 11, as part of my 16 week Reverse New Year’s challenge, I also set a goal to do a full year of 21 minute elliptical workouts followed by 50 push-ups. Yesterday, September 10, marked the end of those 366 days (leap year). I am proud to report that I completed my 366 elliptical workouts followed by 50 push-ups. What did this accomplishment teach me? Obviously commitment and perseverance is needed in order to accomplish that kind of a feat. But most importantly, it is about setting realistic goals and executable action plans, and then a lot of pre-planning. Looking ahead as to when and where I was going to get those workouts in. There are certainly days where it just didn’t work… either because of schedule limitations or vacation time in places where access to an elliptical was not feasible. So in my plan I allowed myself to make up those missed days by doing an extra workout on other days. Early on in the challenge, I knew that I needed to bank a few days in order to accommodate for upcoming holidays. Near the end of the challenge I had to make up 9 workouts in the last 21 days due to missed workouts from other holidays. Having this commitment on the forefront of my lifestyle and making it a priority was ultimately the key to accomplishing it. Yes, sometimes I really didn’t want to. When I wasn’t feeling the healthiest. When I was tired. When I was rushed. When I sacrificed another commitment or obligation. But those scenarios were the “sometimes” and we can persevere and push through those sometimes. Most of the time we are able to accomplish many things if we set our minds to it and make it a priority. I challenge YOU… If you “want” something, figure out the actions that will move you in the direction of that want. Then “get” yourself set up for success by creating a realistic action plan to put in place. Then make it part of your life. “Live it!!” That action plan is now part of your lifestyle if you choose for it to be.
Want IT, Get IT, LIVE IT!!
You may not succeed every day depending on what the plan is, but over a long enough time frame, depending on how you set up that action plan, you might still shoot 100% or even if you get to 80-90% that is still pretty darn good as well. So go for it!! Start today as a 16 week plan to New Year’s Eve, or pick another timeframe.
I am terrible at keeping up with social media and my website but if you go to www.reversenewyears.com you will find more resources to help you come up with ideas, and how to use my SMARTER concept to help guide you in setting up your action plans and time frames.

Hi Everyone.
Today September 23 is 100 days until New Years! This means we are well into the Reverse New Years time frames!! So pick some small realistic ACTIONS that when done often enough over a long enough period of time will lead to OUTCOMES you’ve always wanted to achieve. The Reverse New Years concept gets you started NOW by deciding on a timeline that ENDS on New Years, rather than waiting until New Years to start these “resolutions”. Use my SMARTER system to help you come up with your ACTION plan and if you’d like to join the Reverse New Years community and share your ACTION plan I’d love to hear from you!!
Other upcoming timeframes include October 9 (12 weeks), October 16 (77 days), November 8 (8 weeks), November 20 (6 weeks).
To see my ACTIONS for this year, and for more information on the SMARTER system and all other timelines and ideas of ACTIONS you may want to take on visit the website.

Hi Everyone.
It’s Reverse New Years time!!! What is that you ask? Simple…. Pick some ACTIONS that when done often enough over a long enough period of time will lead to OUTCOMES you’ve always wanted to achieve. And rather than waiting until New Years to start these “resolutions”, you decide on a timeline that ENDS on New Years!! Nothing better than starting a New Year with accomplished goals!
This Saturday September 11 is 16 weeks to New Years. One of many great timelines to put your ACTION plan into motion. Use my SMARTER system to help you come up with your ACTION plan. For more information on the SMARTER system and all other timelines and ideas of ACTIONS you may want to take on visit www.reversenewyears.com
Tomorrow I will post my ACTIONS that I will do for the next 16 weeks. If you’d like to join the Reverse New Years community and share your ACTION plan I’d love to hear from you!!

When life gives you lemons… make lemonade.

When you go back to playing some outdoor soccer with stiff cleats you haven’t worn in almost 2 years and you get nasty blisters that prevent you from wearing running shoes for a little while… you find a way to run without shoes.

Running has been one of my forms of therapy for quite some time… especially during the pandemic. Currently I do 3 x 30min and 1 x 60min run per week. An uncompromising commitment to myself.

Since being forced to think outside the box I took advantage of a well kept field near my house in order to run bare feet on grass. And I think I’ve found a great new way to train during the warmer days of the year. Not sure I’m up for winter bare foot running.

This pandemic has been tough on all of us in many different ways. But one thing has been constant. We’ve been forced to adjust and think outside the box. It speaks loudly to human resilience. To persevere in the face of adversity.

I’ve been knows to be a bit ‘crazy’ at times. Taking on challenges and pushing through. Stubbornness also comes to mind. And I embrace it. It gets me through. And with it always comes a sense of accomplishment and lessons/experiences that give me strength and courage to tackle my next ‘crazy’!

What’s you’re CRAZY? I’d love to hear about it.

Happy New Years Everyone!! So we made it!! Somewhat…. Lol. Congratulations to all of you who took on a Reverse New Years Challenge and either stuck with it or did what you could during these difficult times we are facing. Way to go!!!
I have to apologize for kind of dropping the ball with social media posts of support and encouragement. I feel like any energy I had was spent on trying to keep my RNY Challenge on track and managing the rest of COVID related obstacles. Hopefully 2021 will be different. J
My 16 Week Reverse New Years finished yesterday (I’m a Monday to Sunday kind of mind). It was definitely a Reverse New Years Challenge year unlike any previous one. It became very apparent to me early on that this year was simply about survival. I learned that my 5 x 5k runs per week were the cornerstone of my mental health. Of course it also had a physical impact on my body (mainly to maintain a level of fitness and neutralize the emotional based calories I consumed), but not to the effect of previous years. My daily push-ups, crunches, squats were also important. Part way through my Reverse New Years Challenge I had to change my 20 pull-ups a day to a 2min plank. My elbows got aggravated doing some home renovation projects and the pull-ups continued to irritate them. All part of the 3 R’s of the SMARTER3system… Reflect, Revise, Repeat! Sometimes we have to Revise our plan and adjust… either to intensify the work as it becomes easier, or modify it to accomodate for unforeseen circumstances. This year I also really enjoyed the Action plan of playing an instrument for 20min 2x per week. I have made pretty good progress with learning to play guitar. My garage cleaning and reading were 2 Actions that I seemed to struggle with during the latter part of my 16 weeks… and not eating past 7pm??? Ugh!! Tough one. Lol. Probably due to feeling overwhelmed with managing the Work/Home/COVID-life balance. I have to be honest and say that although I did see some positive changes in my weight at the beginning of the challenge, the holiday season did not do me any favors on the home stretch. Truth is, this year for me was not about big physical improvements though. It was about keeping sane and preventing a decline in my physical and mental health. And I do feel like I’ve accomplished that.
Heading into 2021 I will definitely keep going with my Action plan with some modifications. I look forward to Reverse New Years time again. In the meantime I wish all of you a 2021 filled with strength and courage. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger!! Be smart out there… and be SMARTER with yourselves.
