How did Frigid Recovery come to be?
Here’s me (Dave) a few years ago now. Having been younger helped me grind through full time military demands while incorporating twice a day physical training. Physically and mentally I achieved things in the military that I could never replicate civilian side, and I am proud of what I became capable of. However, by the time I released and came back home to London, I was full of inflammation and chronic pain, built up from the non-stop military grind.
For years after I still wanted to physically grind like I did in the service. It has taken quite a bit of time for me to realize that it isn’t good to always grind and I need to take a more balanced approach to training. Even with this more balanced approach, I still require something to help remedy the physical issues that present themselves regularly.
One winter, after hearing about ice baths, I DIY’d a setup at home and noticed the benefits quickly. Doing it myself with a bathtub at home was inconvenient and less than ideal. Not to mention every time I used all of the ice in the house my wife wanted to fight me. London didn’t really have any cold plunge options outside of a spa atmosphere at the time, which wasn't for me (and I’m assuming others as well). In that absence, my wife and I came up with the idea for Frigid Recovery.
In conjunction with other practices, the addition of cold water immersion keeps me going mentally and physically. It’s a natural and safe method to address many issues you might have.
Whether I want to recover from training, be ache free while playing with my four young kids, need an afternoon boost, or I want to stabilize my mood, cold plunging has benefited my life considerably. Maybe it can help you out as well?
