Save this for when part of you wants to cross the finish line.

When a trauma therapist says “we can go as fast as you can go slow” it’s because shifting the nervous system out of urgency is the whole point! ❤️‍🩹

If complex trauma means the system has learned that you are in a perpetual state of emergency, then healing is allowing the body to realize and relax into safety.

And since our brains and bodies are wired to survive, we remain on high alert - by design! Shifting out of urgency and survival mode… takes conscious effort, consistency, and time 🌱

We have to slow down to notice what drives us and what is no longer true. You can’t rush healing.

Apparently yesterday was blue Monday… the most depressing and gloomiest day of the year. Did anyone else miss the memo? 😂🖤

It’s hard to scroll past so many promises of fast relief without feeling a bit sick 🤢 I know how tempting quick fixes are… especially when you’re tired of carrying so much. Wanting relief makes sense.

But a hyper-protective nervous system is slow to shift, by design.

When change feels slow, it’s often because your system is doing exactly what it learned to do to keep you safe.

If you’re not seeing instant shifts, you’re not broken.
You’re human.

Trauma isn’t stored in your hips - but your body does keep the score. Trauma shows up in your nervous system: in hypervigilance, shutdown, or tension patterns. Practices like movement, breath, and therapy can help bring release… not because trauma is trapped in one body part, but because healing happens when your whole system feels safe again.

Guilt isn’t always what it seems. Sometimes it’s about survival, sometimes it’s protecting us from harder feelings, and sometimes it’s just an old story.

The next time guilt shows up, pause and ask: what is this guilt trying to do for me? Can I be curious with it, instead of led by it? 🌿

Does this way of looking at guilt resonate with you?

You’re allowed to grieve in messy, inconvenient ways.

Grief isn’t neat. It doesn’t show up only as sadness, and it doesn’t care about what’s “appropriate.”

Sometimes it’s sadness. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s anger. Sometimes it’s relief. Sometimes it’s all of it in one day.

Grief can be inconvenient, complicated, and still completely valid. Trust the process - you’re not doing it wrong 🖤
