Tonight in Healthy Love Starts Within, we spent time exploring how we may have contributed to the breakdown of our past or current relationships, and identifying some of the unhealthy patterns we bring into them. Looking honestly at our own role can be uncomfortable, but it’s also incredibly courageous work.

Some examples of unhealthy patterns in relationships include:
• poor communication
• controlling behaviour
• codependency
• jealousy and/or lack of trust
• avoidance
• becoming overly sexual too early
• losing a sense of self
• staying in a relationship long after it has run its course
• being overly critical or nagging
• holding onto resentment

When we acknowledge these patterns, we give ourselves the opportunity to reflect on them with honesty and compassion. We can begin to understand where they come from and how they developed.

With that awareness, we can start to recognize when these patterns show up in real time—and choose a different way of responding. That is where real change begins.

What are your unhealthy relationship patterns?

We start tonight!

I am so excited to bring this workshop to a courageous group of women who are committed to loving better — beginning with themselves. Together, we’ll turn inward with compassion, reflect on patterns and attachment styles, and gently but honestly look at the ways we’ve abandoned ourselves. Most importantly, they’ll learn how to stop doing that — and choose something healthier, stronger, and more aligned instead.

If you have a group of 5–6 women in your personal or professional circle who feel ready for this work, I would love to connect. This workshop can absolutely be customized to fit your group’s needs.

I am so excited to begin this 6-week journey with such an incredible group of women in Healthy Love Starts Within. I truly couldn’t have imagined a more thoughtful, courageous, and open-hearted group gathering for this experience.

My hope is that this will be the first of many offerings of this course.

When I became a counsellor, I knew early on that my heart was in group work. It had already been woven into my art gatherings and retreats, and expanding into therapeutic groups feels like such a natural and beautiful evolution. I deeply believe that women and men both need community — spaces where we feel connected, supported, and less alone. It’s an honour to facilitate that kind of space to the very best of my ability.

To everyone who signed up — thank you. It takes courage to look within. I will be beside you every step of the way, encouraging accountability, growth, and the brave shifts needed to break old patterns and create new possibilities.

Great Read

Today, we honour the stories that often go unseen.

Self-injury is one of the most misunderstood coping strategies out there.
And yes, it is a coping strategy.

Not because someone is “broken.”
Not because they want attention.
Not because they are weak.

But because at some point, something inside felt too overwhelming to hold alone.

People self-injure for many reasons, including:

• To release emotional pain that feels unbearable
• To feel something when numbness takes over
• To create a sense of control when life feels chaotic
• To express emotions they don’t have words for
• To punish themselves when shame feels loud
• To ground themselves when dissociation creeps in
• To make invisible pain visible

For many, it begins as survival.

And survival is not weakness.
It is evidence of resilience.

If you are someone who has battled self-injury or still is, I want you to hear this:

Your nervous system was trying to protect you.
Your body was trying to cope the best way it knew how.
There is nothing shameful about having once done what you needed to survive.

And healing does not require erasing your past.
It means learning new ways to soothe, regulate, express, and process what lives inside.

To those supporting someone who self-injures:

Lead with curiosity, not correction.
With compassion, not panic.
With “Help me understand,” instead of “Why would you do that?”

Shame grows in silence.
Healing grows in safety.

Reaching out for support, whether that’s a friend, a therapist, a doctor, or a crisis line, is not a sign that you’ve failed.

It is a sign that you are ready to try surviving in a new way.
And that takes courage.

You are not broken.
You are becoming. 🤍

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. You do not have to carry this alone.
