How do I keep the white couch clean with the kids? Why did I even chose a white sofa after all?
I have been asked these questions by almost all of my guests. My answer for Y is because; I love white! And being a mum of young kids doesn't mean I don't deserve what I love. I love not only white couches but white bedspreads, white towels, white rugs....I Hope this is enough explanation.
Now to answer; How do I keep them clean? My girls are super hyper and they are those girls who can not sit in one place for more than few seconds. I don't blame them, they are not responsible for their genes after all. They make forts with these sofa cushions, make choo choo train, practice gymnastics routine, pretend airplane games, they are allowed to be wild and imaginative in their home. Trust me these things do not ruin the colour at all. Once ther are done playing, we just vacuum and use a lint roller to clean tiny particles.
Don't get me right. I am not that saint and happy to go mummy all the time. There are many adventures in our home, when I don't have another choice except to use my authority and power. U got it🤬
ONE, when they bring markers, crayons and glitter pens out of the study room and SECOND when they want to bring dripping, bars of chocolate out of the dining zone. We can not eat food on couches and beds. We have a rule of sitting down in a dedicated space for our meals. Other than white upholstery, there are other reasons too that v made these rules. Children who are given opportunities to eat while watching TV may become less sensitive to internal cues to satiety. When you sit down in a dedicated space for your meals, your mind automatically gets the message that it's time to focus on feeding your body. With this attention, you may be more aware not only of what you're serving but whether or not you need a second helping.
Combining television and snacking also creates a cognitive association in your brain that may prompt you to consider the two activities intertwined. In other words, u might reach for some chips or chocolate not bc ur hungry, because you have come to identify tv with eating.
No tv while eating, might suck for few days, but will work!
