Sanskrit is one of the languages of yoga. And it will not have direct translations in English. Respecting yoga, is respecting the language and culture of its origin homeland.

As an Indian yoga teacher, using words from different Indian languages is natural for me. Deal with it. Stop with the cultural appropriation.

But also, this is a real example of how awkward it can be.

Decolonizing is not about convenience. It asks us to sit with discomfort and choose integrity over tradition. As we move through this week, remember that Thanksgiving is not a neutral holiday. It carries a very real history of violence and erasure.

If you are committed to healing, liberation, and decolonizing your practice, let this be a moment to pause. Ask what you are honouring. Ask what you are centering. Ask what you are willing to unlearn.

Visibility helps. Share if this resonates.

✨ Way of the Bodhisattva | December Journey ✨
“Where would I find enough leather to cover the entire surface of the earth?
But with leather soles beneath my feet, it’s as if the whole world has been covered.” — Shantideva

This verse reminds us that we cannot control the world, but we can transform how we walk through it.

Join me and a likeminded sangha this December for a month-long exploration of The Way of the Bodhisattva. Together we will reflect, meditate, and bring compassionate action into daily life.

🌿 For seekers, healers, and activists walking the path of collective liberation and inner transformation.

🕊️ Link in bio to join or register at bit.ly/wayofthebodhisattva. Let’s walk this path together.

On Gandhi Jayanti, I am reflecting on the idea of satyagraha and non-violence, ideas that have historically been at the heart of freedom movements across the world. From Nelson Mandela to MLK Jr to Standing Rock to the freedom struggle of the Tibetan people.

I learned about non-violent resistance from the women and children of the Chipko Movement who clung on to trees being felled for development.

Does non-violence have a place in today's world? Something to think about.

A poem I wrote in 2020, this is a piece that was about gender and sexuality and societal norms. It also was about religion and politics and everything popular.

I am also trying to be brave and try out spoken word. I'm not that good (yet). Here's an attempt.

Be kind. And most importantly engage with the piece. Thanks friends.

It's been three years since the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in Iran. It's been two years since this iteration of the Palestinian Nakba began.

There are plenty of other movements not mentioned here, but these are some of my prayers.

It is said that turning a prayer wheel one time is more powerful than meditating for a year. Today I turned them keeping Sudan, Congo, Iran, Palestine and Tibet.

I want to leave this here for myself. If you see this engage with it.

And Free Sudan, Congo, Iran, Palestine and Tibet.

Repost if you want to join my prayer.

I have been meditating on the meaning of love for a while. What does it mean to love unconditionally and is it possible to do so?
I want to love in a way that sets me free, whether it is in receiving or giving. Ah, the reluctant bodhisattva (in nascent stages) is showing.

A lot of things are being said about Charlie Kirk's death. One rhetoric is that it was Karma: he got what he deserved or bad things happen to bad people.

As a Buddhist practitioner and psychotherapist, I have to disagree and there two main reasons for this.

What do you think?

A question many yoga and meditation practitioners have is: Can we liberated if we do not have one main spiritual teacher?

In Buddhist philosophy, the term Pratyeka Buddha means "Everyone has the potential for liberation or nirvana"

Ancient yoga can be yoga for today if we take time to truly understand what the concepts genuinely mean.

What are some of your questions about life or spirituality?
