This year’s theme honours Black brilliance across generations. In health care, that brilliance looks like community leadership shaping integrated, trusted care.

As an OHT, we work alongside partners like Black Health and Social Services Hub Peel to connect primary care, mental health, and social supports—improving access and continuity of care for Black, African, and Caribbean communities in Peel.

Honouring history while building better care, together.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — yet too many people are still being diagnosed late.

This Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, we’re encouraging everyone to take a simple step that can make a life-saving difference: get screened.

Cervical screening can find changes early, before they ever become cancer — often with no symptoms at all.

In Ontario, South Asian women are 33% less likely to be screened, and Black women face 2.6x higher odds of being underscreened. Everyone deserves access to life-saving care.

HPV testing is now the main screening method for most people. Learn what you’re eligible for at Cancer Care Ontario.

No family doctor? Carepoint Health’s Cancer Screening Clinic offers cervical, breast, and colon screening for Mississauga residents. Get screened today: www.carepointhealth.ca/patient-services/cancer%20screening

Some hours are on holiday mode. But care isn’t. ❄️

To help Mississauga residents plan ahead, we’ve put together a Holiday Hours handout with an overview of service hours and closures across local health and community organizations.

While this document doesn’t include every organization’s hours, it’s a helpful reference to understand what may be affected and when.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Did you know 71% of eligible Peel residents are up to date with breast cancer screening—but some communities still face barriers. Language, access, and stigma shouldn’t stand in the way of early detection. Together, we can close the gap.
