Seasonal changes can take a real toll on mood 🍂—what’s often called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or the “fall slump.” If this time of year consistently feels heavier, a few interventions have good evidence behind them:
• Light therapy — Use a 10,000 lux lamp in the morning for 20–30 minutes. Pair it with another daily habit (breakfast, meditation, getting ready) to build consistency.
• Vitamin D — Especially important in northern climates. Ask your prescriber to check your levels and recommend an appropriate dose.
• Saffron extract 🌸 — Emerging research suggests that about 30 mg/day can support mood, sometimes as effectively as certain antidepressants and with fewer side effects (Akhondzadeh et al., 2015, J Affect Disord). Always consult your prescriber before adding supplements.
These aren’t quick fixes—but small, steady supports that can help the darker months feel a little brighter.
