Looong day at the hospital today. I met with my radiation oncologist today, who informed me that I should be starting radiation soon, but there is a 8 week waiting list to start. That's too much time for my doctors to be comfortable with (the longer it's delayed, the higher the risk of reoccurrence). So I might need to transfer from my beloved hospital for just this part of treatments, which is kind of intimidating. I also met with my surgeon, who said that my lymph nodes were negative, so that means the cancer hasn't spread (yay)! But they did find some cancer in the itty bitty little tumour that survived my chemo. Ultimately it's up to my oncologist, but likely I'll need to take an oral chemo as well. My surgeon said they don't have much evidence to know long term prognosis if it's better to do it or not (fun fact : chemo causes cancer, it's like some crazy plot twist!) so my oncologist will do what he thinks is best for my case. He seems to be doing every treatment possible, since I'm still young and I have a young child I need to be here for, so I'm betting he'll want me to do it. So not the best news ever, but certainly not the worst either. The great news is that spring is finally here, and my wonderful daughter is having a sleep over with a good pal; so I'm out for a walk around the neighbourhood, squeezing as much beautiful healing sunshine as I can out of this day! Hope you are all enjoying the spring too!
