On Friday November 5, 2021, Maxwell Residents, wrapped with their cozy blankets, enjoyed an 1 hour long sound healing meditation with Andrea Courey, well known Meditation Guide and author of several books. With the use of recorded music, crystal, metal and wooden instruments, stress and anxiety was dissolved and a reconnection with inner peace was fulfilled.

Sorry for no posting for a long time.
we are proud to say that all our Residents and the Staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
here are some updates at Maxwell.

- We are in a Green Alert Zone! This is good news! Need to be vigilant!
- Mask wearing in common area still a must
- Hand washing/sanitizing etiquette continues
- All “high touch” areas continue to be sanitized regularly on a daily basis
- Questionnaire and temperature taking for all visitors and staff continues
- Residents are permitted to have 4 visitors in a 24 hr. period in their suites provided their is enough room for the 2 meter distancing; Maximum 2 persons at the same. This is also good news!
- Plexiglass on dining room tables have been removed, so tables can now accommodate more than 2 residents per table! Also good news!
- Dining room times have gone back to the good old days: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for dinner; no more 1st sitting and 2nd sittings for lunch and dinner.
- In the Independent Dining Room, Guests/visitors are permitted to have meals in dining room with their family bubble; but we have not implemented this as of yet! What we have permitted however is open the dining room on the Assisted Living floor to their close aids and/or family member.
- Front Foyer has opened up again; seats are 2 meters distanced
- Activities are gradually resuming:
Our gym is open; we can accommodate 1 person at a time and we keep an attendance register Movie Theatre is open Weekly Exercise programs include walking club has resumed Library is open Weekly grocery shopping at PROVIGO has resumed using our van for transportation.
next week more rules will be relaxed and we will most likely see some of the above regulations to ease up.

COVID-19 Vaccine makes its way Home to Maxwell Residence in heart of Baie D’urfe

Friday, February 5th, 2021, was a historic and milestone day as Maxwell tops the list in being amongst the first senior residences in the Wet Island to roll out the COVID-19 vaccine to its dear residents.

Short-sleeved, anxiously seated at the entrance of their apartment door and answering a few questions asked by the CIUSSS de l’ouest de l’ile Vaccination Team, residents received their 1st dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

“Delighted to finally get the vaccine. The wait is over!” exclaims a happy resident, Frankie Vergil. Overwhelming expressions of joy, hope and positivity permeated every corner of Maxwell, as the vaccines were being administered.

A heart-warming welcoming visit was a made by Mayor Heidi Ektvedt who personally congratulated Mr. Farzad Shodjai, Maxwell General Manager and owner this celebratory milestone day!

Living at the Maxwell Residence these last four years has given me a peaceful and worry-free existence. It is friendly and cheerful and the staff is always helpful. I enjoy exercise classes, outings and weekly entertainment. The sunny garden makes for lovely walks and casual meetings with fellow residents. I feel at home here and happily recommend it.

Joan and I moved to Maxwell 5 years ago after finding our home in Beaconsfield too much to handle. It was either move to a smaller home and carry on with the same routine such as housekeeping, cooking and maintaining a house or move to a senior’s residence. After discussing the pros and cons with our family, it was agreed we should move to a senior’s residence. Our daughter explored several residences on the West Island and finally chose Maxwell. We have a spacious 2 bedroom suite with all the amenities on our floor, such as the dining room, gym and laundry room. The meals are excellent and the service is friendly. Any minor problems are handled immediately and with a smile.

I moved to Maxwell three years ago, aged 83 and in good health. I’m glad I did, as it freed me from the responsibility of caring for a house and property; which gave me the freedom to visit my family, drive my car, and enjoy the many activities offered at the Maxwell. I have been able to indulge my hobby of gardening on my good sized balcony, and to walk around Baie d’Urfe and explore its parks, waterfront and pretty residential streets. It was the right decision for me.

A year ago, when it became time to move mom to a seniors residence, I researched six senior residences before selecting the Maxwell Residence in Baie d’Urfe.

A great choice as mom made the transition quickly from her own house and settled in within weeks. When I ask her, (and I do often), what she likes best about the Maxwell, her reply is always about “how nice the people are”. I can’t say enough positive things about Team Maxwell for keeping mom healthy and happy especially in these daunting times of Covid-19.
