Happy Birthday to me! 44 today!

Walking through the decades with gratitude, grit, and a little mischief. 😉

4 — My brother was born, and I decided pink and frills were not my destiny. Cars, legs, and climbing things felt way more fun than dolls and dresses.

14 — I pierced my eyebrow without telling my parents, got my period, and walked into my very first yoga class… the beginning of a lifelong path.

24 — Teaching yoga full-time, becoming one of the first Lululemon ambassadors in Montreal, and releasing my first yoga CD. Wild to look back now.

34 — I got married and became Koji’s mama — the role that’s changed me more than anything else.

44 — TBD… but I’m leaning into the theme of Forty-More — more joy, more freedom, more alignment, more love, more magic. ✨

✨ Trick or Treat for Your Wellbeing

Samhain (pronounced Sow-in) is the ancient Celtic festival that gave rise to Halloween.

It marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter — a sacred turning point when the veil between worlds was said to be thinnest. People lit bonfires, honoured their ancestors, and wore masks to protect themselves from wandering spirits.

At its essence, Samhain is about endings and beginnings — a symbolic death and rebirth. It invites us to let go of what’s no longer true, to shed old identities and illusions, and to honour the natural cycles of transformation.

This year, let it remind us to end the trickery — the habits, patterns, and quick fixes that bring short-term pleasure but long-term suffering.
🍬 The sugar highs.
💻 The distractions.
🎭 The pretending and performing.

And instead, to treat ourselves to what may feel uncomfortable at first but brings long-term peace, health, and authenticity:
🌿 Rest.
💫 Boundaries.
🧘‍♀️ Breathwork.
❤️ Truth.

Vata (air & space nature) often gets a bad rep — restless, forgetful, all over the place.

But there’s also beauty in it: creativity, uniqueness, openness, wild expression.

Although you know my pitta (fire, productive) energy, I rarely show this other side of me.
These mirror selfies of my outfits were for my besties only.

My Vata side has some rough edges, but it doesn’t do conventional.
It does contrast, texture, ambience and moods.

Vata doesn’t follow trends — it follows energy.

One of the best ways to balance Vata is to channel it into creativity.

For me, that means bold personal style and design. ✨

My little mirror — fiery wit, deep compassion, and radical defiance. 🫣🩷

Despite working with children for decades as a babysitter, swimming instructor, and kids yoga teacher, I must confess — I wasn’t sure I wanted to be a mother. I’ve always had deep respect for kids and felt my life was already full — with my students, and the little humans my friends brought into the world.

But here I am. Full in.

Motherhood is a wild ride and a powerful privilege. Although it’s taken me time to adapt to this all-encompassing role, it’s making me a better (and more efficient) teacher, therapist, and person, really.

Children are the world, and we are their guides. Ouff — what a profound honour and colossal responsibility.

The real work is balancing it all and staying present.

I am far from perfect, but the practice helps me enormously — especially as a single mama.

L’automne est la saison Vata — le moment de ralentir, de se nourrir en profondeur et de retrouver l’équilibre. 🍠✨
