Anxiety can feel exhausting, frustrating, and confusing.
Especially when it comes seemingly out of nowhere, and begins controlling our life.

Whether you experience debilitating anxiety, or functional anxiety, your body is speaking to you.

Your body holds your inner child, the inner child that didn't receive all of the needs that it required when you were younger.

Your inner child is speaking through you, speaking to you through your triggers & your anxiety.

Because the whole experience of anxiety can be frustrating, overwhelming, and confusing, we often get angry or upset at the anxiety itself, or the world.

When we start to recognize there's an inner child version of us within us, reaching out for help, we can start to look at our anxiety with compassion & curiosity.

When you do that, everything shifts.

Tip: When you experience anxiety, find the place within your body that you can feel the anxiety (find the sensation)

When you find that place, hold it in love and compassion.

Then, get curious, what does this part within me want me to know? Breathe into that space and ask... "What do you need from me in this moment? And then... listen.

Keep practicing this, it will get easier.

The answer is simple.
Act as they do.
Think as they do.
Be as they are.

This doesn't mean you lose who you are, this means that you adopt new qualities, new habits, and new ways of thinking that support who you truly desire to be.

You'll often hear me talk about how important it is to become aware of your beliefs, about yourself, about other people, and about the world.
πŸœƒ
The reason for this is that your beliefs shape your reality, and what this post is about is creating awareness around who you believe you are.
πŸœƒ
I was talking with a client, and we uncovered that she has an underlying belief that she is stupid. We also uncovered that how she acts in the world is validating that belief.
πŸœƒ
This belief stops her from trying journalling because she believes at the core that she isn't smart enough to do it.
πŸœƒ
The beliefs we have about ourselves are often created in between the ages of 0-7, but they can also be created after that as well.
πŸœƒ
One of the ways to discover your beliefs about yourself is doing an audit on the statements that you say often.
πŸœƒ
"I'm so forgetful"
"I'm terrible with directions"
"I always find a way"
"I'm just a nervous person"

Etc.
πŸœƒ
So, I encourage you to discover the beliefs you have about yourself, because they may be negatively impacting your ability to move towards your goals and create the life you desire.
πŸœƒ
What do you believe about yourself?
Do you believe that you can accomplish anything?
Do you believe that you have the resources to heal and grow in the way that you desire?
πŸœƒ
And when you discover your negative, limiting beliefs about yourself, take a look at how that is impacting your life, your decisions, the actions that you take or don't take, and how you show up in the world.
πŸœƒ
Then, of course, your next step is to start shifting those beliefs.

When you think of someone who is depressed, I want you to think about what their physical body looks like...
πŸœƒ
Probably hunched shoulders, frown, maybe a furrowed brow, slouched.
πŸœƒ
When you think of someone who is angry, anxious, happy, or in love, what does that person's body look like? How do they act? How do they breathe?
πŸœƒ
The reason for teaching you this is because when you teach your body PHYSICALLY what you want to feel like... your psychology, your mindset, and your emotions will start to follow suit.
πŸœƒ
Using the body to teach the mind, rather than trying to convince your mind that you are okay.
πŸœƒ
So what this looks like, if you are trying to feel less anxious or less depressed, is to sit up straight, shoulders back, in a proud stance.
πŸœƒ
Maybe a light smile comes across your face.
πŸœƒ
Maybe you take a big breath and exhale fully.
πŸœƒ
Maybe you move slower than normal, like someone without anxiety would move.
πŸœƒ
Ask yourself:
How would I breathe if I was anxiety-free?
How would I move?
How would I talk? Stand? Walk? Act? Speak?
πŸœƒ
How would a grateful person move, act, speak, walk, stand?
What about a person who's in love with life?
What about a happy person?
Or a peaceful person?

And then start acting accordingly, and watch the magic unfold in your mind.

Do not underestimate the power of your physiology and your body.

I thought anxiety was my new normal, and that terrified me.

Part of me believed that I would have anxiety forever. Without knowing where it came from or why I was experiencing it, this was a scary thought.

My anxiety seemingly came out of no where. I was on the couch, and my heart started pounding.

I started to panic. I felt a weight on my chest. I was sweating.

After this experience, anxiety became my new normal. I had anxiety nonstop. I didn't want to experience another attack again, so I constantly worried about it, which caused it to happen.

Anxiety was my new home. I woke up, anxiety. Before I went to bed, anxiety. There wasn't any part of the day that I didn't feel the heavy weight of anxiety. It was a dark cloud that I couldn't seem to get away from.

Until, I had a BIG life scare. I was diagnosed with cancer.
This is when I was given a new perspective.

I learned that my body is always communicating with me.

This horrifying yet awakening experience of cancer gave me the push I needed to heal, my mind, my body, and my soul.

This experience is what led me to help others. To listen to their body, heal their anxiety, and to live the life they truly desire.

What anxiety and cancer showed me was that I was living out of alignment with my true self, and the universe was going to give me every experience that I needed to wake up.

I made the decision to trust fall into my own healing. I realized that anxiety was leading me down a path to my most aligned self. It was leading me into my greatest growth.

My hope for you, is that you don't wait until a scary diagnosis to change.

My hope for you, is that you take action now. My hope is that you listen & you connect to your soul-self, that you start living in alignment with who you are truly meant to be.

Your outside circumstances do not define you.
Your past does not define you.
What defines you is how you react to what has happened and is your current reality.

You have a choice, in every moment, to move towards your goals and dreams, even when it feels impossible, even when your step forward is the smallest, most simple, and most messy step.

The key is to keep moving.
The key is to not get stuck where you are.

Step into your empowerment instead of disempowering yourself with excuses.

We all have trauma, and no, it's not "fair" or "right" - however, I believe that we are given these experiences so that we can grow.

Not so we can stay small, not so we can use them as an excuse to stay the same.

It is up to us to take our experiences and utilize them for growth and healing.
Only YOU can make this choice.
Even when it feels hard.

No matter what you've been through, or what you're going through now, as long as you're breathing, there is hope.

Take one small step.
Utilize the power of your mind to see things differently.

One of the most frequently asked questions that I receive is "Why do I have anxiety" - the truth is, it could be for many reasons, however, there IS a reason.

And because there is a reason, that means that reason can be healed.

My personal opinion is that your anxiety is your messenger, to let you know that something is out of alignment, out of balance. Your body is speaking to you, and it is hoping that you listen.

It can be frustrating to experience anxiety seemingly out of nowhere.
It can be frustrating to feel a lack of control like anxiety is sitting in the front seat.
It can be exhausting dealing with panic attacks, irregular heartbeats, and being hyper-vigilant as to what is going on with your body and mind.

I'm here to tell you that you DO NOT have to live this way. You CAN heal. My clients have done it, I have done it, and I am continuing to help others to do it too.
