Rehabbing injuries and fighting pain is never easy.
It’s not only a physical battle, but a mental battle as well.
Chronic pain and injury after injury feels defeating. It takes a toll on everything you do.

It takes discipline, consistency and making daily choices on how you move your body.
But you have to keep moving. Going lighter is ok, going slower is ok. Just doing accessory work til you’re ready to lift again is ok.

It’s when we stop, that we lose.

Speed matters when we are stretching. Breath matters when we are stretching.
And it is so important to let the two of them work together, so that we can maximize the time we spend working on our mobility and flexibility.

When we slow down the stretch, and slow down the depth at which we begin the stretch. We can use our breath to take us deeper. To allow the fascia and muscles to melt.

Hi! Time to introduce myself!
I’m Kim! A Fascial Stretch Therapist and, hopefully, a Daymaker ☀️✨

I am deeply passionate about learning about all things that can make a body feel and function better.
I have a history with chronic pain and chronic injuries, but I have fought my way through them all, and with education and care, am feeling the strongest and healthiest of my life (with hiccups here and there, like everyone).

I am a mom to 2 boys, a fire wife and a former child and youth worker for the school board, turned stay-at-home mom, turned Fascial Stretch Therapist. I love this new chapter in my life. Although, I miss shop-talking students learning, mental health and growth, I am enjoying a space where I can serve and help people feel more at ease in a different way. Education support staff, teachers, firefighters and their families are my people. But I hold a very special place in my heart for moms. Cause it’s hard!

I spend time moving every day, usually at the gym.
I love reading all kinds of books - kobo girl!
Walking outside, especially in a forest (usually while my boys are looking for snakes, frogs and salamanders).
And learning more about how the body works, so that I can help YOU!

And I would love to help you.

A sensitized nervous system can’t come back down to baseline.
You’re constantly on alert, waiting for the next thing.
Your fascia never rests, it holds tight, bracing against what might come.
Even if it doesn’t.
Like a car alarm going off because a feather landed on the car, you tense up, even at the thought of what you have to do next, at your phone ringing, at being asked to help with one more thing.

Awareness that this is where you sit is crucial to taking the next steps.
To start finding regulation through little steps in your day.

Deciding to focus on just one task, and not rushing through it. Knowing that everything will get taken care of in due time.
Remembering to breathe deeply, expanding your full diaphragm and waking up your lungs.
Going for a walk outside and practicing gratitude - even just naming 3 things in your life that you are grateful for. Your bed, that hot cup of coffee, a good book.

The actions don’t have to be big. We’re more likely to follow through when we choose small, attainable goals.
They will compound over time to give us those big changes we seek. The goals that we wish to reach. The regulated nervous system.

My favourite people to stretch on a Saturday morning 🥰

My two boys.
One who loves being stretched and relaxes like no other.
And the other who timidly allows a short session, for which I am still so grateful.
And of course, my ever supportive husband!!

Every body responds to touch and stretch differently. It can calm immediately, or require time to be coaxed along. But every body has the capacity to feel safe. In the right space, and with the right person.
Slow pacing and moving along with the intention of listening to what each body requires is crucial.
