Some days the state of the world feels heavy and the art puts you back together.

Creating this mixed media artwork was an act of time travel and a chance to fully immerse myself in the warmth of memories—back to afternoons playing with siblings and cousins in our large garden, eating juicy jaman fruit, and resting among fallen franjipani flowers. This memory, like so many from the time, feels lovingly preserved by the warm embrace of my aunt.

Grateful for the anonymous artisan in Karachi whose handcrafted vinyl stickers add the perfect texture and frame, and to the legendary Sohail Rana, whose music is the soundtrack to my childhood. 🌸🍃

The authors write that trauma carries an 'emotionality in which the world is altered in its hands. The ways that support is offered to those carrying the ongoing torment of such violation need to incorporate a willingness to touch the intensity of the experience, hold it with respect and engage with the shared humanity of all such pain.'
