Our dogs give us so much..comfort, protection, and unconditional love. But just like us, their bodies can hold onto tension, stress, and discomfort over time.

Through gentle, hands-on techniques like EquiBow, Craniosacral Therapy, and Reiki, canine bodywork helps release those patterns, encouraging relaxation, mobility, and emotional balance. It’s a holistic way to support your dog’s wellness, mind, body, and spirit.

If you’ve noticed your dog hesitating before jumping, showing stiffness after rest, or seeming a little “off,” it may be their way of asking for support.

Learn how bodywork can help your dog move freely, rest deeply, and feel their best at every stage of life.

We’re so excited to officially introduce Jodi Dennis, a valued member of the Balanced Bodyworks team serving the Niagara Region.

Jodi’s connection to animals and nature has been lifelong. Growing up surrounded by dogs, horses, and farm animals taught her early on about the quiet wisdom and energy that flow through all living beings.
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator, Jodi brings that same sense of calm and intuition into her work with children creating safe, nurturing spaces where they feel understood. Her passion for energy work naturally led her to become a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner, supporting both children and animals through gentle energetic balance.

Grounded in compassion and guided by intuition, Jodi believes healing begins with understanding energy, and that when we nurture balance in both people and animals, we help them shine in their truest light.
We’re grateful to have her as part of the team as she continues to support people and dogs throughout Niagara through integrative sessions as Sarah transitions to out East for December!

Meet Maddy, a compassionate voice in holistic animal wellness!

Maddy has always shared a deep, intuitive connection with animals. One most beautifully reflected in her bond with Spirit, her pony of over 11 years. Their journey through health challenges and healing shaped her understanding of what it truly means to support an animal body, mind, and spirit.

Raised among dogs, cats, horses, and cattle. Her empathy and curiosity led her to study Kinesiology and Health Sciences at Western University, and later Animal Science at the University of Guelph, blending science with her passion for holistic care.

Certified in Reiki and craniosacral therapy, and mentored in animal and human bodywork, Maddy brings together intuition and evidence-based understanding to support balance, healing, and connection. Her mission is to help animals and their caretakers thrive through integrative, whole-body care, combining structure, movement, and spirit.

Exciting news: As of December, Maddy will be taking over Ontario clients and expanding to new areas of service. Stay tuned for more details on her offerings in the coming weeks.

Have you noticed your equine being a bit more fresh as the cold weather arrives? or your dog a bit more sluggish?

Animals experience seasonal nervous system shifts just like humans. Less daylight alters melatonin cycles, colder weather activates the sympathetic (“fight or flight”) system, and routine changes can create tension or reactivity.

Bodywork supports balance by:

- Calming the nervous system into parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) mode

- Relieving muscular tension caused by cold weather or stress

- Supporting immune and digestive functions linked to nervous system health

Helping your horse or dog stay regulated now means fewer behavioral shifts and better comfort as the season progresses.

If you notice changes in your animal’s behavior or body this fall, consider scheduling a session for extra support.

Support the gut–brain connection this season with targeted nutrition + bodywork.

As the seasons shift, so does your animal’s internal balance and gut health is often the first area to show it. Cooler weather slows digestion, forage changes alter nutrient content, and seasonal stress can upset the delicate balance of gut flora. When the gut is out of sync, you’ll often see signs not just in digestion, but in mood, movement, and immunity.

Signs your horse or dog may benefit from added gut support:
Gassiness, bloating, or loose manure
Dull coat or brittle hooves
Increased tension, irritability, or reactivity
Decreased appetite or picky eating
Lowered immune resilience or slower recovery

That’s where G’s International (for equine) and G’s Formula (for canine) come in. Both products are designed to restore microbial balance, improve nutrient absorption, and strengthen the gut–brain connection, helping your animal regulate from the inside out. Pairing either formula with regular bodywork amplifies results by easing inflammation, improving circulation, and supporting the gut–nervous system link that underlies true wellness.

If your horse or dog is showing any of these signs, or you’d like to try a sample and learn more about how G’s International or G’s Formula can support gut health, send me a message.

Whether your horse is in steady work or your dog is training for sport, bodywork is an important tool for keeping them at their best. It’s not just about recovery after a hard ride or run, it helps prevent small restrictions from turning into bigger issues. Subtle imbalances or compensation patterns can develop that we don't notice until it becomes a bigger issue.

Regular sessions support flexibility, faster recovery, mental focus, and a balanced nervous system. Which means your partner can train with more ease, regulation and enjoyment. When animals feel good in their bodies, they’re more willing and confident in their work.

Interested in learning how bodywork fits into your animal’s training plan? Reach out anytime.

As summer fades into fall, our animals feel these changes just as much as we do. Horses start shifting coats, dogs may adjust energy levels, and both can show subtle changes in how their bodies carry tension.

Bodywork during these seasonal transitions helps the body adapt with less stress, easing stiffness, supporting circulation, and making them more comfortable as days cool and routines shift. Even small sessions now can set them up for a smoother fall and winter.

If you’d like to learn how seasonal support could benefit your animal, I’d be happy to share more.

We’re in the thick of summer, and our August schedule is already close to full.
The only travel availability we have left this month is Fergus / Guelph / Hamilton on August 28 (morning) and London on August 29.

Here in Niagara, we’re still seeing human and animal clients Monday–Wednesday each week.

If your horse has been working harder in the heat, whether that’s training, showing, or just keeping up with summer activity you might notice subtle signs like shorter strides, stiffness after work, or a shift in their energy. Dogs may also slow down or change their movement patterns without obvious signs of pain.
These small changes can be the earliest signals of strain. Addressing them now through targeted bodywork supports comfort, recovery, and long-term soundness.
