Not every uncomfortable feeling in therapy is a red flag, growth can be hard.
But blurred boundaries, misplaced focus, or a lack of appropriate training are worth paying attention to.

Ethical psychotherapy is structured, attentive, and grounded in professional standards. If something consistently feels off, confusing, or centred on the therapist rather than your care, it’s okay to pause, ask questions, or seek a second opinion.

Noticing red flags isn’t being difficult.
It’s being informed.

When we think about a “good life,” it’s easy to focus on achievement, productivity, or success. Decades of research suggest something much simpler and much more human.

The quality of our relationships shapes how we experience our health, our stress, and our sense of meaning over time. Investing in connection isn’t a distraction from life goals; it’s part of what allows us to sustain them.

If you’re feeling disconnected or stretched thin, therapy can be a place to strengthen relationships — including the one you have with yourself.

We’re excited to introduce Melissa Nigrini, the therapist leading our upcoming Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at Bay Psychology.

Melissa will guide participants through an evidence-based 8-week program designed to help reduce stress reactivity, build resilience, and develop practical mindfulness skills for everyday life.

No meditation experience needed just curiosity and a willingness to explore new ways of relating to stress, anxiety, and chronic pain.
🧠 Stay tuned to learn what to expect from the program and how MBSR works.

Mindfulness isn’t about clearing your mind or staying calm all the time.
It’s about training your brain to respond to stress with more awareness and choice.

Research on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction shows that regular practice can change how the brain processes stress, emotion, and attention... Supporting steadier moods, less reactivity, and improved emotional regulation over time.

These shifts don’t come from willpower. They come from practice. If you’re curious about mindfulness as a skills-based, evidence-informed approach to stress, MBSR offers a structured way to learn.

Stress doesn’t need to be pushed away to be managed differently.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) offers structured, evidence-based skills that help people respond to stress with more awareness, steadiness, and choice.

This program isn’t about clearing your mind or doing mindfulness “perfectly.”
It’s about learning practical tools you can use in real life... especially when things feel overwhelming.

If you’re curious about a different way of relating to stress, anxiety, or chronic pain, MBSR may be a good fit.

MBSR Afternoon Group starts Tuesday February 17, 2026 2:00-4:00
MBSR Evening Group starts Tuesday February 24, 2026-5:30-7:30

Psychotherapy works best when it’s grounded in evidence, thoughtful training, and clinical accountability.

Asking about a therapist’s approach, supervision, and experience isn’t challenging care, it’s part of choosing it wisely.
You deserve psychotherapy that is structured, intentional, and focused on meaningful progress, not guesswork.
