Behind every uniform is a human being carrying experiences most people never see.

First responders regularly face intense situations, high responsibility, and cumulative stress. Having a space where those experiences can be understood without needing to explain the culture of the work, can make a meaningful difference.

Bay Psychology’s Tactical Wellness Group brings together first responders from across Ontario to build skills, share experiences, and support one another in a structured, professionally guided setting.

Supporting a child through anxiety can feel overwhelming, especially when parents are unsure what actually helps and what may unintentionally make things harder.

Many families discover that small shifts in how anxiety is handled at home can lead to meaningful changes in a child’s confidence and day-to-day functioning. When parents feel more equipped, the whole family dynamic often becomes calmer and more manageable.

Programs like SPACE focus on giving parents practical strategies that help children gradually build resilience and independence, even when anxiety is still present.

If you’ve been looking for guidance on how to support a child who struggles with anxiety, this upcoming group may be a helpful place to start.

Mental health online can sometimes oversimplify complex psychological concepts. Real growth is often slower, more nuanced, and requires learning skills that help people navigate difficult emotions rather than avoid them.

Understanding the difference between what feels true and what is actually helpful can be an important part of the healing process.

Swipe through for a few honest reminders about mental health that don’t always get talked about.

“Okay moms” aren’t perfect. They’re present.
After years of sitting with families and as a psychologist who sometimes brings French fries to the potluck, here’s what I know:
Kids don’t need flawless parenting. They need connection. They need safety. They need caregivers who are willing to try again tomorrow.

Research consistently shows that secure attachment isn’t built through perfection... it’s built through responsiveness, repair, and emotional attainment. It’s not about getting it right every time. It’s about being willing to reconnect when things go sideways.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re doing “enough,” the fact that you’re asking probably says a lot.

You don’t have to do motherhood alone.

So much of what we’re taught celebrates independence... but healing, growth, and resilience rarely happen in isolation.

Needing support isn’t weakness. Struggling isn’t a personal failure. And doing life together isn’t something to outgrow, it’s something to return to.

Community has always been a source of strength, especially in spaces where people have had to rely on one another to survive and care for each other.

We don’t heal by going it alone.
We heal by showing up together.

Today I want to celebrate the incredible women who make me, my team, and our community stronger every day.

On International Women’s Day, I honour the strength, resilience, compassion, and wisdom that the women at Bay Psychology bring to their work and to the people they support. Their dedication to helping others grow, heal, and thrive inspires me daily.

“The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very courageous: be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble.” ~Serena Williams~

Self-care has its place... rest matters, pleasure matters, support matters.
But burnout doesn’t happen because moms aren’t trying hard enough to relax.

When exhaustion is widespread, chronic, and structural, the solution can’t be individual. Candles don’t fix childcare gaps. Baths don’t replace community. And no amount of “wellness” can undo systems that demand too much and give too little.

If you’re a mom and you’re tired, overwhelmed, or stretched thin. That’s not a personal failure. It’s information.

We don’t need better bubble baths. We need better support.

Anger doesn’t always mean something is wrong with you.
Sometimes it means something is wrong around you.

When paired with courage, anger can become a signal for change, a refusal to accept harm as normal, and a willingness to imagine something better.

Hope isn’t passive.
It asks us to feel, to care, and to act... even when it’s uncomfortable.

A Beautiful quote by Augustine of Hippo.

Somewhere along the way, “good parenting” got confused with perfection.

Perfect snacks. Perfect responses. Perfect energy. But kids don’t need perfect... they need present.

Showing up imperfectly, repairing when we mess up, holding boundaries with kindness, and taking care of ourselves? That’s real parenting. And yes… sometimes that looks like bringing French fries to the potluck. 🍟

Being an “okay” mom is actually pretty great parenting.
Save this for the hard days, and share it with a mom who could use the reminder. 🤍

Working in mental health offers a close-up view of what it means to be human, the hard parts and the hopeful ones. Again and again, resilience shows up in ways people don’t always recognize in themselves.

Support doesn’t mean weakness. It means choosing not to carry everything alone.

This month (Psychology Month) and always, conversations about mental health, emotions, and care matter just as much as conversations about physical health.
