Humans have and always will require animal foods.

Our body, especially the brain, requires remarkable amounts of sun derived molecules that are stored in saturated fats and cholesterols.

When you strip animal products from the diet the chronic disease cycle begins.

If we desperately need to help people connect back to eating meat.

Why are we seeing a continued push against meat?

Did you know that gut microbes likely dictate whether you have healthy bones?

Whenever I look into a patient’s mouth, I’m thinking about how their body is placing bone.

Downstream from the mouth, the gut microbiome is in direct interface with 80% of the immune system.

Gut problems like Crohn’s disease are known to reduce the body’s ability to maintain healthy bone.

Researchers have established that patients with inflammatory bowel disease have bone loss; the question is why. In mouse experiments, animals exposed to bacterial infections of the intestine or to a detergent that causes breaks in the gut’s epithelial barrier could lead to bone erosion.

To further test the idea, actobacillus reuteri which has good evidence supporting its presence in health were used in mice studies.

Not only did the bacterium reduce intestinal inflammation, it also caused the mice to gain bone mass. The study, published in 2013, suggested that even among healthy mice, bone density was compromised by inflammation in the gut, and quelling that inflammation could provide a means to boost bone strength.

This was one of the first studies showing that the microbiome had some role in regulating bone density.

They then tested the well-known probiotic L. reuteri in estrogen-deficient mice, a model of the post-menopausal period during which women often lose bone density, and found that the treatment again prevented mice from losing bone mass.

In a small human study, a group in Swede published findings on giving older women with low bone density L. reuteri, the microbe McCabe and Britton have studied, or a placebo daily for a year. The loss of bone mineral density was lower among the women who took the probiotic.

So this is a very early area of research, but the mounting evidence beginning with oral bacteria and dental health, as well as the connection between chronic digestive diseases and bone loss, tells us we need to consider how bacteria signal the skeletal system.

Bleeding gums is a bacterial imbalance that translates to the gut and may weaken your bones.

Did you guess the correct answer?

Do you struggle with gut issues?

Your eyes and skin are your solar panels. If you charge them correctly, they will power your entire body.

When we talk about benefits of sunlight, we think vitamin D, but the nuances and role that the sun plays in the human body goes far further.

Your solar panels are you your skin and eyes. When you expose skin to middle day sun, we convert vitamin D. It’s also the sunlight that can burn if you expose too much.

SUNRISE is a different type of light.

All sunlight is 42% infrared light. Infrared light stimulates collagen, increases bone healing and heals wounds. So, sunrise is great for your gums and teeth.

Sunrise contains little to no UV, so expose as much skin to the morning sun as you can.

This type of infrared light is also anti-ageing; it reduces wrinkles and scars. That’s not what you usually hear about sunlight is it!

Infrared light, along with cellular water, is crucial when it comes to charging your body and creating energy.

The benefits of morning sun play a critical role as to how we utilize sunrays found in light over the day. Infrared light around sunrise preconditions our skin to protect us from the UVA and UVB that comes out a bit later.

Catch enough infrared light early in the morning and you’re less likely to burn later in the day.

Then around 10am, UVA raises its head a little bit later in the morning. It is critical in making Nitric Oxide (the substance we release from the nasal sinuse and exercise). Nitric oxide drastically increases mitochondrial energy, your memory, and it’s anti-aging.

UVA light also triggers the production of serotonin and dopamine and releases endorphins along with a small op**te effect. The end result? You feel good.

So if there’s one health recommendation I can make. Get up with the sunrise, watch it and expose your eyes, skin, and brain to the benefits of sunlight.

Did you know the benefits of morning sun? Anyone catch the sunrise today?

Do you want the left brain or the right brain?

Choline is a building block for chemicals and structure in the brain.

If you want better memory, less brain fog and potentially prevent your risk of neurodegenerative disease we need to better get to know choline!

Makes you wonder why we don't’ really hear as much about it...

Choline was recognized as an “essential” nutrient by the US Institute of Medicine in 1998.

Choline is needed by your body for liver function, normal brain function and development, nerve function, muscle movement, cellular energy and metabolism.

Children with FASD have learning challenges, such as difficulty with memory, concentration and social skills.

One 2018 explorative study showed high dose of choline administered early in pregnancy can mitigate adverse effects of heavy prenatal alcohol exposure on EBC, postnatal growth, and cognition in human infants.

Another study researched a group of 2-5 year olds with fetal alcohol syndrome testing supplementation with choline

In the study it was observed that children with FASD have very high rates of ADHD, and the group that received this treatment had lower levels of ADHD symptoms by the time we followed up with them four years later.

In older age choline is an important essential nutrient.

People with Alzheimer’s disease have lower levels of the enzyme that converts choline into acetylcholine in the brain

• one observational study in 2,195 adults aged 70–74 years in Norway, participants with plasma free choline concentrations lower than 8.4 mcmol/L had poorer sensorimotor speed, perceptual speed, executive function, and global cognition than those with choline concentrations higher than 8.4 mcmol/L
• As evidence bodies grow, there are small randomized intervention trials have shown that choline supplements improve cognitive performance in adults

How to get more choline? Well yes, it’s the same foods we always talk about.

Choline is found naturally in eggs, liver, beef, salmon, and breast milk. There are some plant sources of choline however they are vastly less than those in chicken and beef liver.

Do you need to add more choline to your daily intake?

Hormone disrupting chemicals are everywhere..

Great original post from

The endocrine system is a network of glands and organs that produce, store, and secrete hormones. When functioning normally, the endocrine system works with other systems to regulate your body's healthy development and function throughout life.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are substances in the environment (air, soil, or water supply), food sources, personal care products, and manufactured products that interfere with the normal function of your body’s endocrine system.

EDCs are chemicals or mixtures of chemicals that interfere with the way the body’s hormones work.
Some EDCs act like "hormone mimics" and trick our body into thinking that they are hormones, while other EDCs block natural hormones from doing their job. Other EDCs can increase or decrease the levels of hormones in our blood by affecting how they are made, broken down, or stored in our body. Finally, other EDCs can change how sensitive our bodies to different hormones.

EDCs can disrupt many different hormones, which is why they have been linked to numerous adverse human health outcomes including alterations in s***m quality and fertility, abnormalities in s*x organs, endometriosis, early puberty, altered nervous system function, immune function, certain cancers, respiratory problems, metabolic issues, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular problems, growth, neurological and learning disabilities, and more.

Since reports published in 2015 and 2016 identified 15 probable exposure–outcome associations, there has been an increase in studies in humans of exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and a deepened understanding of their effects on human health.

Here is a list of substances known to affect the human endocrine system
DDT, Chlorpyrifos, Atrazine, 2, 4-D, Glyphosate- Pesticides
Lead, Phthalates, Cadmium- Children's Products
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and Dioxins - Industrial Solvents or Lubricants and their Byproducts
Bisphenol A (BPA), Phthalates, Phenol - Plastics and Food Storage Materials
Brominated Flame Retardants, PCBs- Electronics and Building Materials
Phthalates, Parabeans, UV Filters - Personal Care Products, Medical Tubing, Suncreen
Triclosan - Anti-Bacterial Soaps, Colgate Total
Perfluorochemicals - Textiles, Clothing, Non-Stick Food Wrappers, Mircowave Popcorn Bags, Old Teflon Cookware.

Have you or your family been affected by environmental toxins.

Do you suffer from painful joints? Did you know it could be associated with bacteria that live in the mouth?!

Bacteria that live in your mouth is found in nearly every organ in the body.⠀

If you have bleeding gums, that’s an imbalance between oral microbes and your immune system. This inflammation is now implicated throughout the body and in many cases they find oral bacteria as the culprit.⠀

That’s why you need to pay close attention to your oral health.⠀

Researchers from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland essentially traced the passage of bacteria in the mouth to the fluid surrounded the kneecap, called synovial fluid.⠀

By analyzing the DNA of the bacteria, the researchers could determine that the progeny of the gum bacteria entered into the bloodstream and settled in the synovial fluid, which was in a weakened state as a result of arthritis.⠀

The small study group of only 36 patients, none with advanced periodontitis. Of these patients, five had gum bacteria in their synovial fluid. Most convincing, though, was the fact that for two of the patients, the bacteria found in the mouth and in the synovial fluid were genetically nearly identical, providing smoking-gun evidence of bacteria relocating.⠀

If you have long term gum disease the risk has long been associated with heart disease. One example of this link is the accumulation of plaque in the arteries, called atherosclerosis, which may be exacerbated by the same bacteria causing plaque on the teeth. Another example is an inflamed heart valve, irritated by gum bacteria.⠀

The connection to rheumatoid arthritis and gum disease is well known, for healthy joints, it appears you need to look after your mouth.⠀

These chronic inflammatory conditions show up in the gut, our skin, our lungs, and glands.⠀

And, bleeding gums, acts a lot like an auto-immune issue (I believe we will reclassify it as one, soon)⠀

Don’t ignore bleeding gums, and as I’ve said for a long time, your baseline for good dental health is diet, which you can learn more about in my book The Dental Diet.⠀

Have you experienced bleeding gums and joint issues?

Just when we thought it was over the second wave is creeping in at our doorsteps. A healthy immune system can save our lives. It may seem as if we are doomed but we still have time to work on our immunity. While we might not have control over the timing of vaccines but we do have control over our health and immunity. I have put together 5 key components that people often overlook for robust immunity.

1. Relationships: that’s right! Caring and connecting with people around you releases anti stress hormones in fact of studies have shown the connection between social support and fewer chronic illnesses.

2. Sunlight: sunlight not only increases your vitamin D count it also helps supercharge the infection fighting T cells in our body. This activation of T cells will significantly speed up one’s ability to recover.

3. Vitamin A: our ancestors consumed a ton of fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A. Vitamin A plays various different roles in our bodies one of the most important one is the proper functioning of immune system. The most bio-available sources of vitamin A are cod liver oil, meats, organ meats, and eggs.

4. Protein: lack of protein in your diet not only weakens your muscles it also leads to an impaired immune system. A good chunk of our population is not meeting the daily protein requirement. Some of the most bioavailable forms of protein are fish, red meat, chicken, and turkey.

5. Avoid Vegetable oils: vegetable oils are highly toxic. A study conducted on a group of mice fed vegetable oil vs. olive oil. The group that were fed vegetable oils developed insulin resistance (insulin resistance leads to a weakened immune system) whereas, those who were fed olive oil did not. Coconut oil, ghee, and grass fed butter are all great alternatives to vegetable oil.
