In a remote oak grove of northern Greece, women known as the Peleiades, or “the Doves”, served as priestesses of Zeus, tending the oldest known oracle in the Greek world. These women listened not for thunderous commands, but for the sacred rustle of oak leaves, the ringing of bronze cauldrons, and the gentle cooing of birds. They divined messages through the sounds of the sanctuary itself, a holy conversation between wind, tree, and soul. And they did it collectively - as a group of women together rather than alone.

These priestesses held a power largely forgotten: the ability to listen deeply to the language of the birds. Not dramatic, nor loud but profound. Intuitive. Mystical.

“The Doves of Dodona”, was created to honor this ancient feminine lineage — and the sacred gifts that still live within us. It is a calling for your own tribe, a symbolic totem to be joined with other women of like minds, spirits and hearts. Even if that has yet to manifest itself physically in this realm, it reminds that it already is.

After all, here *we* are. If you close your eyes and listen, you can hear the beating hearts of a hundred other women that are also calling. Listening.

This piece is not just art, it is a remembrance. A reclamation.
A tangible reminder that neither your tribe nor your inner oracle is not - only waiting.

Because the Sisters are calling;

Dear clients, followers and friends,

It is the wish of this writer to share some personal news. In late October, the start of Tarot and Tea’s busy season, we learned that our room with a view needed to change. What was unknown was what that change was to look like.

Then in early November, this writer lived a health challenge, expected, yet never prepared for. This health challenge, once again, tested public health services in the South Okanagan. This writer’s life was saved and recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. To some, a Christmas one. In the meantime, Tarot and Tea has suspended Reiki and Reading services. Spiritual and Technology services continue. Amazingly, this writer was able to resume work from hospital. A virtual workspace enabling almost continuous engagement through the challenge. Thank you, from the bottom of this writer’s heart.

Also, many clients from Better at Home, Oliver and Gallagher Lake areas, reached out as our routines were rudely interrupted. This writer is humbled and grateful for all their support. She misses all of you, too. Now comes the slow and steady rehab aspect of housekeeping services, once again. Some of you may recall, this writer recovered from triple bypass heart surgery in 2022.

Before all these happenings, in September, as Sage Valley Voices began practicing for the winter concert, one of the choir members encouraged this writer to enter some artwork into the Oliver Creates show. These pieces were from the healing journey that started in 2022. As some of you know, this writer was honoured with an award for those entries. A humbling and grateful moment.

This writer’s return from hospital this time was like no other. In so many ways. Thank you, from the bottom of this writer’s heart. One such moment was attending Light Up Oliver a couple of Fridays ago, taking in our bonfire and singing with fellow Sage Valley Voices folks and many of you.

A huge Thank You to the Oliver community for the best homecoming. This writer is very grateful for our community. Wishing a very, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. 🎄

As the wheel of the year continues its turn towards the winter solstice, I'm reminded of the ancient symbol of the green man. Usually depicted as a face surrounded by leaves and vegetation, this nature spirit has roots in pagan mythology and medieval church carvings. He represents the cycle of death and rebirth, with the old year dying back to allow new growth in spring. I personally cannot not feel the connection between him and the Oak KIng. And the Winter Solstice brings him back to reign once again, returning the light and life for Spring.

In this work, the green man peers out from a wreath of oak leaves and acorns, his gaze both gentle and fierce. The triquetra at his heart symbolizes the three phases of the goddess - maiden, mother, and crone. Together they reflect the constant transformation of the natural world.

As women, I believe we often ignore what’s taking place in Nature much like we ignore our own spiritual and soulful needs. The onus with ones spiritual tending often seems to be “how to be a good or better person” - which is a noble thing, but we often neglect the real need that we have for true connection to the Soul.. Whether that’s conscientiously giving time to simply muse on the autumn settling in, or the quieting of life in everything around you that you are equally a part of, or performing elaborate gestures in flowing robes bedecked in new glories (something I am also fond of), bringing our depth and mystery to the forefront of our consciousness more clearly enables us to remember the power of Divinity that lies within each of us, that we all inherently are, It helps us to shed off the mundane that we so easily become a part of.
It is all a part of you as much as you are a part of it. Don’t let it be one more undiscovered blessing. Let it touch you. Let it change you even as the earth herself is changing.

In this moment. In the deep.

"Uranus Retrogrades back into Ta**us on November 7 one final time, making this the last time it will be in this sign for 84 years.

Uranus in Ta**us can cause some very unexpected changes to occur in our world. This alignment deals with material possessions, finances and commitments.
