Cancer Sucks.
Many of us are touched by cancer to some degree, whether it’s family, friends, co workers, or yourself.
Next month I am taking part in the Dry Feb campaign to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. In just over 48 hours I have been able to raise over $1500 with the amazing support of my friends and family!

Posted • Let's make some space in your thoracic cage before you get your turkey feast on!

This is a great exercise to open up your chest, improve spinal and shoulder mobility, and take some tension off your upper back muscles.

To get the most out of this exercise, sit back onto your heels to *lock* your lumbar spine, then place your elbow between your knees. This ensures you don't cheat the movement by moving through your low back.

Why is this exercise important?

Most of us NEVER strengthen our hip muscles through our available range of motion. Do this exercise to activate your hip stabilizers at these difficult end ranges!

Need an example? Let’s talk about kickboxing.

Have you been stretching your hips, holding these stretches for a minute into ALL the ranges, and still noticing you can't do a nice roundhouse kick?

That's because you're working on FLEXIBILITY and haven't told these muscles to activate through their entire AVAILABLE range of motion!

FYI, CARS = Controlled Articular Rotations.

Tuesday Talk - Let's change the way we think about Physiotherapy! 📣

Traditionally Physiotherapy is sought out AFTER an injury, or when pain has reached a point to limit your function. It's time to shift the thought process to PREHAB.

Working a little bit each day on your 🤸 MOBILTY and 🏋️‍♂️ STRENGTH will allow you to jump into your favourite activities (Rob's is camping) without hesitation while reducing your risk of injury!

Now this doesn’t have to be an intense lifting session, or an hour long run. Start with a walk to the shop around the corner, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. Give your body mini training opportunities to build up towards a goal that you choose!

Accidents can happen.

But if you give your body the necessary stimulus EVERY DAY to actively use your joints and muscles, through a variety of ranges, this can mitigate the likelihood that you do incur an injury while doing what you love!
