Welcoming an Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Student!

We are pleased to welcome Sydney Warburton, a second-year Occupational Therapy student from the University of British Columbia, who is completing her Level 3A fieldwork placement in Castlegar from February 9 to March 20, 2026.

Sydney is working under the supervision of Heather Hackett as part of her clinical education requirements. Fieldwork placements are a core component of occupational therapy training and provide supervised learning experiences across diverse practice settings.

During her six-week placement, Sydney will gain experience in private practice and rural occupational therapy while contributing to client care under supervision.

We value the opportunity to support student education and professional development and appreciate the mentorship provided by our clinicians.

As Emelly wraps up her OT student placement with our Nanaimo team, she has taken a moment to reflect on her learning journey.

“I learned a lot about different caseloads, but more importantly, I learned a lot about myself as a clinician. That growth wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my preceptors. Their curiosity and strength based approach helped build my confidence and created a safe learning space for me as a student OT.”

We’re so grateful for Emelly’s openness, curiosity, and engagement throughout her placement, and for our Nanaimo preceptors, Joel and Bethany, whose thoughtful mentorship and commitment to student learning made this experience so meaningful.
