Well-being extends beyond the exam room or clinic walls. Through creativity, connection, and lifelong learning, programs like Community Canvas support brain health and overall wellness.

Evidence shows that the brain can continue to adapt and grow over time, and engaging in new, shared experiences can meaningfully support cognitive function, mental health, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

Over five weeks, participants of all skill levels came together to create a vibrant shared artwork through Community Canvas, guided by local artist Maureen Mcneil.

The finished piece now hangs in the Perth Family Health Team’s Community Room, representing creativity, connection, and community spirit.

“This program was about much more than painting,” said Tracy Birrell. “It created a welcoming space for people to connect, build confidence, and feel proud of what they accomplished together.”

“We’re excited to continue building programs that support the whole person,” added Olivia Munro. “In a small town like ours, these moments of connection matter—they help people feel supported, included, and inspired.”

Participants shared that the program was not only a chance to learn something new, but also a meaningful way to connect with others in a relaxed and supportive environment where there are no mistakes.

Programs like this highlight how creativity can enhance well-being, reduce isolation, and foster a strong sense of belonging.đź’›

Today, on National Caregiver Day, we take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and hearts to care for others. đź’™

Caregivers are the backbone of our communities—supporting loved ones through illness, aging, and life’s challenges with compassion and strength.

We invite you to join the Ontario Caregiver Organization for a special National Caregiver Day evening event. This virtual gathering takes place at 7:00 PM ET and will feature a pre-recorded fireside chat with the 2026 Janet Beed Impact Award winner – a caregiver leading positive change in Ontario – along with a special presentation from GenWell – Canada’s Human Connection Movement – with practical tips to help busy caregivers build social connections.
This event is also being offered in French.

You can access more information here: https://buff.ly/s4izMJI

Let’s take today to say THANK YOU to the caregivers in our lives.

Your dedication does not go unnoticed. đź’™
