Have you ever felt stuck, unmotivated, or uncertain about your direction? You might be feeling the effects of an unbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra — also known as the Manipura, the energy center associated with confidence, willpower, and self-worth.

When this chakra is out of balance, you might notice a lack of drive, difficulty setting boundaries, or even frustration and overcontrol. Physically, it can show up as tension in the stomach area or digestive discomfort.

In my upcoming Stretch & Soul class at Summer Soul: Yoga + Wellness Studio, we’ll explore gentle movement, guided breathwork, and mindfulness practices to help restore harmony to this powerful centre of personal energy. When this chakra is balanced, many people report feeling more inspired, open to joy, and connected to their body and relationships. In this class, we’ll explore hip-opening postures, fluid sequences, breathwork, and guided reflection to help you release stuck emotions and invite more ease, sensuality, and playfulness into your life.

Chakras feeling a little out of sync lately? Chakra balancing is a gentle way to check in with your energy, emotions, and overall well-being.

Each of the seven main chakras is linked to different aspects of life—like grounding and safety (Root), creativity and pleasure (Sacral), confidence and willpower (Solar Plexus), love and compassion (Heart), communication (Throat), intuition (Third Eye), and connection to something greater (Crown). When energy flows more freely through these centers, people often report feeling clearer, calmer, and more aligned in their choices.

Chakra-balancing practices can include:

Breathwork to calm the nervous system and bring awareness into the body

Gentle movement and yoga postures that open and strengthen specific areas

Sound, mantras, or affirmations that support emotional release and clarity

Simple mindfulness and visualization to reconnect with inner guidance

Feeling a bit unsteady, overwhelmed, or like you’re always “on alert”?

Root Chakra work is all about coming back to a sense of grounding and safety in your body.

The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is linked to feeling:
- Stable and supported in everyday life
- Safe in your body and your environment
- Connected to the present moment instead of stuck in fear or worry

Clearing and balancing this energy centre can help:
- Calm a busy, anxious mind, so it’s easier to relax and sleep
- Ease that “fight or flight” feeling in the body
- Build confidence in taking practical steps toward your goals
- Create a deeper sense of belonging and connection to yourself and others

In a yoga class, Root Chakra–focused practices often include:
- Grounding postures that strengthen the feet, legs, and hips

Today marks the Winter Solstice—the longest night and the turning point toward more light. 🌙✨

In yoga and in life, this moment asks us to pause, breathe, and honor the stillness. It’s a season for deep rest, reflection, and trusting the natural rhythm of renewal.

For women in the menopause transition, the solstice can mirror our own journey: stepping into darkness to rediscover a new, luminous balance within. Just as the earth slowly tilts toward the sun, we too can return to our inner light through mindful movement, breath, and gentle self-compassion.

Let’s take this day to light a candle, move slowly, and invite spaciousness into both body and spirit.
