Instructor’s Favourite Prop: Weighted Toning Balls ✨

Lynne loves using weighted toning balls in her teaching, and here she’s showing them in a moving bridge on the reformer.

Adding a weighted ball to a single-arm opening creates an asymmetrical pull, which challenges your core stability in a completely new way. The goal? Keep the hips level, avoid dropping torso and pelvis towards the weighted side and let your deep core stabilisers + obliques work to find balance and symmetry.

It’s a subtle tweak with a big impact — strengthening the body while teaching it how to stay balanced under challenge.

Even small props like these can create a powerful “aha” moment in your practice.

n Pilates, breath is not decorative — it’s biomechanical.

A true diaphragmatic inhale creates 3-dimensional rib expansion as the diaphragm descends and the pelvic floor responds eccentrically. On the controlled exhale (through softly pursed lips), rib recoil assists activation of the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor, contributing to a regulated intra-abdominal pressure system.

This coordinated system — diaphragm, TA, pelvic floor, multifidus — increases stability and prepares the body for movement.

In other words: the spine is supported before the limbs even move.

This is why we don’t cue “brace harder.”
We cue intelligent breath sequencing.

When teachers understand this mechanism, they start teaching stability from the inside out.

Chronic pain doesn’t have to hold youback. 💙

Movement can be one of your most powerful tools — when it’s done with intention, guidance, and care. At GFP, we’ve seen how Pilates helps clients:
✨ Strengthen without strain
✨ Reconnect with their bodies
✨ Improve posture, alignment, and mobility
✨ Use breath to calm tension and move more freely

Every session is tailored to support your body, respect your limits, and help you explore movement safely — so you can reclaim confidence and freedom in daily life.

You don’t have to live in fear of movement. Take back control, one gentle, purposeful session at a time. 💪

Pilates isn’t “just for women.” It never was. 💪

Created by Joseph Pilates to train soldiers and athletes, this method was built on strength, control, and performance from day one.

Yet somehow, the myth stuck.

Here’s the truth:
Pilates challenges deep stabilizing muscles, builds real core strength, improves mobility, and enhances athletic performance in ways traditional training often misses.

From footballers to cyclists (yes, even Ronaldo 👀), elite athletes rely on Pilates for power, prevention, and longevity.

Whether you lift, run, golf, or simply want to move pain-free — Pilates might be the missing link in your routine.

And if you need proof?
Just meet Milton in our studio. 💛

The power of strong, happy feet

Our feet are the foundation for every movement—from walking, running, and climbing stairs to Pilates and everyday tasks. Yet they’re often overlooked!

Your feet have 26 bones and 29 muscles connecting from your lower leg through your toes. When they’re weak or out of balance, it can affect your knees, hips, posture, and even core strength.
This month, we’re giving our feet the attention they deserve:
🔹 Stretch & Release: Theraband foot mobility, rolling the sole of your foot on a ball
🔹 Strengthen: Toe scrunches, calf raises, light jumping
🔹 End-of-Day Reset: Feet up the wall to encourage circulation and reduce inflammation

Small daily habits create a big impact. Strong, mobile feet = better alignment, stability, and confidence in every step.

Not for the faint of core 🔥 The magician on the caddy demands serious strength and control. Core engaged to stabilize the limbo-pelvic region, glutes and hamstrings firing to keep lower body lifted, inner things working to adduct and hold the line. The entire posterior chain? On fire. 1:1 private sessions allow us to safely build toward movements like this. Layer by last, rep by rep. Ready to level up your strength? 💪

FAQ: How many times a week should I practice Pilates? 💛

The honest answer? It depends.

Your goals matter — and so does what else you’re doing. Are you strength training? Running? Playing golf or tennis? Pilates is a powerful complementary practice that enhances other movement modalities by improving core strength, mobility, balance, and control. ✨

For most clients, 2–3 times per week creates noticeable results.
But even once a week can support maintenance — especially if you’re pairing it with other activities.

It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing what supports your body best. 💫

Not sure what that looks like for you? We’re here to help you build a plan that fits your life.
