If Grief had a voice today đź’™

Grief for children doesn’t follow a straight line; It can sound like laughter one minute and silence the next. There is no "right way" for a child to mourn, and every shifting emotion is a natural part of them processing a big loss.

Thank you to the CGFC for sharing.

A common question we get asked is, "Is it just a weekend of talking about grief?"

Far from it. Our retreat is just as much about community, connection, and joy. From outdoor recreation to shared laughter, we incorporate plenty of fun into the schedule. You’ll find a supportive group of people who understand your grief journey, and a weekend designed to help you discover that joy can exist even when grief is heavy ❤️

Providing Education and Support ❤️

At NB Copes, we are dedicated to ensuring that no one has to navigate the complexities of grief alone.

We are so grateful for the resources provided by the Canadian Virtual Hospice.
Through MyGrief.ca, they offer free online modules designed to help you:

- Identify different types of loss (including disenfranchised grief).

- Understand the physical and emotional impact of mourning.

- Find practical strategies to move through the hardest days.

Knowledge is a form of support. Whether you are grieving yourself or trying to support a friend, these modules are an incredible tool to have in your kit.

Help children navigate loss by keeping the memory of their loved ones alive.

These supportive phrases from The Children's Grief Foundation of Canada offer gentle ways to encourage children to open up, share a laugh, or express their feelings in a way that feels natural to them.

At our Youth Grief Retreat (ages 13-18), the art therapy sessions aren't about the final masterpiece - They are about the moment. Guided by professional art therapists, these activities are designed to help connect the mind and body, providing you with practical coping skills for emotional regulation that you can take home with you. No art experience required.

Create in whatever way feels right for you:

To Remember: Create a piece that reflects the vibrant life and legacy of your loved one.

To Release: Use colours and textures to express what your grief feels like when words fall short.

To Simply Be: Sometimes, it’s just about the joy of trying something new, making a mess, and participating in a fun activity, even if you think you aren't good at it!
