Pink Shirt Day is about more than wearing pink.
It’s about creating spaces where everyone feels safe, seen, and valued. At Our Place Respite, anti-bullying isn’t a one-day message — it’s something we practice every day.

It looks like listening.
It looks like patience.
It looks like learning one another’s communication styles.

It looks like celebrating differences instead of trying to change them. Bullying thrives in environments where people feel unheard or unseen. Belonging grows where people are respected. Today we’re wearing pink — but every day we choose kindness, inclusion, and dignity. Because everyone deserves a space where they can show up fully as themselves.

At Doug Tarry Homes, we don’t just think outside the box…
Sometimes we climb inside it. 😏📦
Innovation. Creativity. Teamwork.
However you look at it… we’re always building better together.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Business After 5 event. We were truly overwhelmed by the generosity shown through the donations brought that evening. Your support reminds us that community is built not only through words, but through action. We are grateful to be part of a network that believes in what we’re building and continues to show up for adults in Elgin County. Thank you for helping us move this work forward.

Thank you to every single person who showed up last night for Our Place Respite! Whether you brought a donation, stopped to chat, or wanted to learn more about what we do, we are so grateful for you.

We truly appreciate the kind words about our space. We work hard to make it a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and at home—a space where our friends who attend care can proudly show off all they do.

It meant so much to meet so many new faces and welcome people who were learning about us for the first time. We loved sharing our space with you, and showing off what our friends do with their amazing creativity!

Please continue to stop by—we would love to see you again and share more of what makes Our Place Respite so special. Thank you for being part of such a wonderful evening 🤍

Welcome to Our Place Respite Inc

Hello, welcome to our page! Our Place Respite Inc. is a client based respite day program for adults with unique needs. This means that we focus on our clients unique skills and interests and base our program on those interests, resulting in a goal oriented, skill based, fun and exciting program. Our program includes games, science experiences, DIY projects, painting, embroidery, weaving, scrapbooking, blogging, baking, cooking, music, daily book club, and a lifeskill program exclusively our own. But most exciting, is our news program that we post on facebook bi-weekly. Our Place 6 O’clock News includes local news within the community, weather and sports updates, sign language lessons and exclusive interviews with members of our community. All news stories are brainstormed and written by our friends who attend program. Check our episodes out on our page!
