This (pretend) spring weather has led to icy sidewalks and paths. Keep your feet and joints safe with a few simple strategies:

1. Wear proper footwear: Boots with good traction or ice grips reduce slipping.
2. Take small, deliberate steps: Keep your center of gravity over your feet.
3. Scan for hidden ice: Snow can hide slick patches underneath.
4. Keep your hands free: Avoid carrying things and use your arms to balance.
5. Use supports when possible: Handrails, walking poles, or walls can provide extra stability.

A little awareness goes a long way in staying steady on icy surfaces.
To improve balance and strength for winter walking, your physiotherapist or strength & conditioning coach can design an individualized program to help your body handle icy conditions safely.

Call 306-934-2011 to book in for an appointment.

Our Story

Craven SPORT services in Saskatoon was started by Karen Craven in 2006 as a one woman show out of Quantum Fitness. It didn’t take long to outgrow that space, and in November 2008, Craven SPORT services opened its first location on 2nd Avenue North. Bruce Craven came on board to join the business after working for the Sport Medicine and Science Council for 18 years. The business was continuing to grow at a rapid pace, and in 2012 we moved to the building across the street, where the current Craven SPORT services resides. As of right now, we have 14 physiotherapists, 2 massage therapists, 9 strength and conditioning coaches, 1 dietitian and more to help you overcome pain, heal chronic injuries and reach new fitness goals. Learn about our unique focus on whole body health and wellness, and book an appointment to start your journey.
