We are so excited to welcome to The Refinery community!

Candace holds a Bachelor of Arts with an Honours Specialization in Social Justice and Peace Studies from King’s University College and a Bachelor of Education from Western University. Most recently, she completed her Master of Clinical Therapeutic Herbalism and is certified by Black Bird Medicine as an Indigenous Death Doula. She is also certified in Auricular Acu-detox through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) and has spent 15 years doing restorative & transformative justice circle facilitation, education, youth outreach, and community programming.

Candace is excited to share ways to easily incorporate herbal medicine into your wellness practice at The Refinery! She will be offering a variety of fun and informative hands-on group medicine-making workshops. For those seeking more individualized herbal supports, 1:1 consultations can be scheduled through our booking system TBD.

Candace is mother to her son Tayson, a sister, an auntie, an activist, and a queer, neurospicy community member. She enjoys plenty of laughter and the privilege of being a dog mom to her two fur-babies Winston and Daisy. In her spare time, she can be found outdoors curiously and carefully building relationships with our more-than-human relatives.

We are honoured to have Candace’s knowledge, heart, and plant wisdom joining us at The Refinery. Stay tuned for workshop dates and booking details...you're not going to want to miss this.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

This month, our community stands united in strength and love for every survivor, every fighter, and every loved one taken too soon. 💗

As women, it’s important that we take our health into our own hands. Early detection saves lives.
If you’re 40 or older, talk to your doctor about scheduling a mammogram, and no matter your age, make monthly self-exams part of your routine.

Let’s move with purpose this month, lifting one another up, spreading awareness, and encouraging every woman to take care of her health. Together, we are stronger. 💪

The Refinery-The Sault’s Hottest New Health & Weight Loss Facility

We are launching a brand new health facility for all of our Sault Ste. Marie Community.

We are combining the best of every world!

This is an all-inclusive gym atmosphere with private coaching, group training, specialized classes and of course, we want you all to hang out, enjoy a coffee with us and maybe some light food options in the future! This will be a home for women only- with a few limited specialty classes to include the men.

When this idea came to light. We envisioned a home for everyone. A safe place but a place where little by little you’re pushed outside your comfort zone.

A no judgement zone.

We envisioned an environment teaching people how to become the best version of themselves.

Often times you join a “gym” with these hopes and yet, often times you’re let down.

Now is the time. Today is the day. You took the first step. You will never feel that way again. From here on in, you will step into your greatness and live your best life.

We will show you how to own your life and for some, we will give you your health back. We will unravel you piece by piece and put you back together again!

We will give you all of the knowledge, power and strength to take on any challenge.

We will teach you how to refine your mind, refine your body and ultimately, refine your life.

This isn’t just a gym. We don’t just have trainers. This is your new home and we are your family.

There are three (optional) parts to our program, in which you’re invited to take part in one or all three.

Fitness Classes that are 30 minutes in length. Experts indicate that all you need is 30 minutes 3-4 days per week. So, we will make it quick and effective. For some, we know how busy life can be. We get you in and get you out, as we know your time is valuable. For others, you want longer classes, you want to hang out and socialize. This is a home for everyone. We will also be offering some specialty classes TBA (eg. yoga, Hard Body Bootcamp, 55+, pole dancing, salsa, etc).

A weight loss program designed on an individual basis to meet your unique needs (we’re not all created equal). This includes meal plans that have the perfect macronutrient balance of proteins, carbs and fats for weight/fat loss. It also includes recipes, “quick results programs,” as well as helping you learn what works best for your body. This is backed by a sports nutritionist who is an expert in the field. You set a goal your comfortable with and we help you achieve it.

Private, individual Accountability Coaching. This includes weekly accountability meetings with brief diet/nutrition advice and help with any struggles or different obstacles you may face on your individual journey.

Our facility is results oriented and we’ve partnered with the BEST coaches with backgrounds in sports/nutrition/training/coaching in Sault Ste. Marie.
