February is ❤️Heart Month ❤️
Did you know that 8 in 10 cases of premature heart disease and stroke are preventable?
Here some tips to show a little love to your heart 🥰
❤️Choose Healthy Eating - many older folks find this challenging as they may not have the desire to or be able to cook the way they used to. Try to avoid processed food where possible, and choose options with less sugar and more protein.
❤️Maintain a Healthy Weight - read nutrition labels, watch portion sizes, and measure your waist circumference. You may not be burning as many calories as you did in your youth.
❤️Stay Active - find activities you like and are able to do. Adapt for winter time by walking the mall or doing laps in your home or building.
❤️Mange Stress - identify the stressors in your life. Prioritize physical activity and good sleep. Ask for help around the home when you need it.
❤️Stop Smoking - this is probably the hardest one on the list as there’s a physical and psychological element. The good news is that within 24 hours your chances of a heart attack start to go down. Ask for support and accountability and help managing withdrawal symptoms.
