Violette Apothecary Clinical Herbalist I am a herbalist & plant advocate. I discovered my love for herbal medicine through my travels. They were my initial teachers.

My mission is to teach and spread the knowledge of the healing properties of plants, in order for them to be an integral part of our modern lives. Originally from Montréal, I started exploring other cultures in my teen years. Throughout my multiple voyages, I realized I was consistently drawn to the older women of the communities I was part of. Often, they were the wise elders who knew about the medicinal properties of plants and the profound connections we have with Nature. I worked on many different sustainable, permaculture oriented farms and became a leader in managing their food and their medicine. After years of self-teaching and gathering multicultural knowledge, I decided to go back to school and complete the Community Herbalist Certificate offered at Pacific Rim College, in British Columbia. The four-month certificate was eye opening and gave me the ambition to start my own business. Les herbes Violette - Violette herbs were then born. It was a great learning experience, but I felt the need to deepen my practice and gather more knowledge to help a wider range of people and health issues. I then decided to enroll in the Phytotherapy diploma which gave me the confidence to become a medical herbalist and hold space for patients through consultations. My passion for botanical medicine motivates me to keep following the health practitioner journey I have been on for the last few years. My love for farming brought me to grow most of the herbs I use in my practice, which is to me a vital part of being an herbalist. I am still working with patients I met throughout my business; with the intention of widening my clientele by becoming a herbal medicine farmer supplying local herbalists.

Also thank you for all the amazing feedback - it truly make my heart so darn happy when i get to hear how the medicine is supporting you 🥹💗

With all my love,
Sarah

(Part 2)
But after the first day - when the evening comes and you light up that stove to warm up - you remember. This sense of aliveness. The feeling of deep presence. The technology & online world buzz fades away and seems irrelevant.

So irrelevant that you start to wonder why you even spend time and energy on something that is not tangible. That never has and never will be.

What’s the point of it all? The whole thing seems completely obsolete. And yet, you realize you spend many hours of your day involved in it. Absorbed by it. How strange.

You put another log on the fire. You look around. Your phone is tucked away. You forget where it is. The candles provide enough light. They always have. The fire provides enough warmth. It always has. You turn on your senses & notice the rushing river sound in the back.

You notice how peaceful you feel. Your anxiety seems far away. Your worries don’t seem relevant anymore. All you can focus on is what is right in front of you. No external input from strangers. No distractions disguised in entertainment.

Just you, your person, your dog, the fire, the river, the candles & all of Nature. All the real things. All that has ever truly mattered.

This short but meaninful getaway awakened parts of me that had been sleeping. That had been quietly sitting on a dusty shelf. It reignited something within myself.

I prayed for the feeling to never leave me again. I prayed for my ancestors & the ancestors of the land to always remind me where to go and where to look when i feel lost or overwhelmed. I prayed to always remember where I came from. The wild.

A part of me wonders why it took me so long to visit the land of the Olympic mountains while another part of me somehow knows I was subconsciously waiting for the perfect moment.

To feel lost in order to be ready to receive its medicine. To crave the feeling so much that it cracks you open. To wonder to finally remember.

Hi friends 🦋
I felt like sharing a little update with you all.

It has been a busy season as i’ve been deep in the TCM + Acupuncture world for the last 3 months.

For those of you who didn’t know - I am currently doing a diploma to become a registered acupuncturist to eventually offer acupuncture treatments alongside my herbal consultations!

This medicine asks us to go deep & learn old traditional ways of seeing the world and the body. It is absolutely mind blowing and eye opening on many levels.

I am already finding ways to integrate principles from the TCM lense in my practice & I couldn’t be more excited to weave it all together✨

It will always be my intention to keep learning & finding ways to deepen my work and how I can show up for my patients.

That being said, being full-time at school while also tending to my patients has made me very busy and leaves me with little time to be on this platform (i am not mad about it👀)

By starting a new diploma, i knew that i would not have as much time to bring to life my dream of creating a bioregional apothecary line through Violette Apothecary.

Life got so busy so quickly but i am trusting that everything will come in its own perfect time & i am constantly reminded that i have the rest of my life to make medicine and share it with the world 🌿 Like i always say, medicine can not be rushed.

Despite being a very busy bee lately, I was still able to bottle some medicine to offer to my community & they should be available in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

As always, thank you for being here xx

Hi friends, I hope everyone is tending to their hearts during these times of transition and grief.

I found that for myself, I’ve been needing a lot of time to
reflect & feel over the last month.

A lot of collective pain and suffering is happening in our world and I personally think it is important to take the time to feel it.

To acknowledge it. To sit with it. To let the tears flow. To get familiar with the uncomfortable.

Everyone has their own way of processing & dealing with major tragic events and i think it is important to respect one another during these times.

We never know what someone might be dealing with on a daily basis & some of us might choose to keep their grieving process more private.

On that note, here are a bunch of cute mushrooms i have befriended over the last month. They are cute and they remind me of all the beauty in our world. I hope they make you smile a little 🍄

Remember to return to the Land & Nature whenever the grief becomes to overwhelming.

With love,
Sarah

Autumn is here & she is asking us to slow down. Our bodies are kindly asking us to rest and contemplate.

This season is meant to reflect, go inwards, heal and let go of things in our lives that are ready to die.

Autumn often comes along with grief. As everything slows down, past traumas & old memories can resurface and make our hearts ache.

The shadowy parts of ourselves want to be held & acknowledged.

It can certainly be a hard time of the year for many of us but I find comfort in reminding myself that it is exactly as Nature intended.

Buuut at the same time, this season is also meant to preserve nature’s vibrant food, nourish our bodies, collect seeds for the next cycle, plant winter gardens, brew lots of tea, craft, simmer gallons of soup

Gather & celebrate with friends/family, get cozy, light candles, take long baths and reflect on all the blessings that were gifted to us over the warm summer days.

Everything about this season shows us the way.🧡
