Let’s Talk Downtime

You’ve heard the buzz about the Lutronic Ultra 1927nm Laser, but what really happens after your treatment? Here’s what to expect and how to care for your skin for the best results.

Everyone’s downtime will look a little different depending on your treatment plan and the settings used, but here are some general guidelines:

Downtime & What to Expect
◻️Redness (erythema) can last a few hours and up to a full week with more aggressive treatments
◻️Skin will feel warm/hot the day/evening of treatment
◻️Skin will feel rough or “sandpaper-like” for 5-10 days+ as old cells naturally shed
◻️Pigmentation may appear darker before light flaking begins, this is normal and temporary
◻️Skin will be very dry throughout the healing process
◻️Swelling (edema) may occur

What to avoid:
◻️Avoid direct sunlight for a minimum of 2 weeks
◻️Heat-based activities (saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, or heavy exercise) for the first 48 hours
Avoid the following for 7 days:
◻️Exfoliating products (scrubs, brushes, enzyme peels).
◻️Active ingredients such as retinoids, vitamin C, AHAs/BHAs, or benzoyl peroxide.

After the 24 hour mark DO:
◻️Cleanse with a mild, non-stripping cleanser, no rubbing or picking at flaking skin (we recommend ZOs balancing cleanser or Gentle cleanser)
◻️Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, non-active moisturizer. (We recommend ZOs Hydrating Cream or Growth Factor Serum)
◻️Apply sunscreen every morning, wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, reapply every 2 hours when outdoors to protect your results and prevent pigmentation
