is obviously very important to me. That’s why I started https://www.concussiontalk.com/ and turned the blog in Concussion Talk Podcast in 2015. 165 episodes later and I’ve been joined by and we’re calling it Chronically; talking also about dysautonomia and other chronic conditions arising from concussion. I also wrote a self-published ebook about my severe brain injury and coma, Detour, in 2014.

I’ve been watching the series ”Critical”. My mother and sister told me how good it was. How impressive the trauma response is in London, how it hit them and how difficult it was for them. So I watched it being forewarned. Seeing the cases, including a preponderance of brain injuries was not especially difficult for me. What was was watching the families and loved ones. To see what they went through. I didn’t have to go through that experience. Maybe it’s connecting with more family and friends, maybe it’s the anticipation of spending time, but not nearly enough, with my ‘second family’, (a.k.a former housemates), or maybe it’s the August 1 date. I don’t know. To try and name everyone who was there and everyone who came into my life after would be extremely unfair to them and exceedingly arrogant on my part. Please know how much I love you.
The music was meant partly as a tribute to the amazing concert that put on in my hometown in the middle of the North Atlantic on Tuesday night and partly because I think I got the lyrics to line up well.
Check out “Critical” on Netflix.

Posted • This week’s by Nick of ⁣

It took many years, and a lot of time feeling very frustrated and misunderstood. What’s more, I often felt that people didn’t even want to try to understand! But I eventually came to understand that my severe, disabling, and “life-altering” (whatever that means) brain injury, is part of me, part of my life - maybe the biggest part! This has meant everything to my life and how I see the world. ⁣

Denying that, trying to ignore it or wish it away, would be, at worst, dangerous, and at best delusional. Taking a positive, trusting view makes my attitude virtually impenetrable! Everything that has happened since my severe TBI has shaped me...Everything that has happened wouldn’t have happened (a little bit of chaos theory). Everyone I met, I wouldn’t have met. How arrogant was I to think that I knew the best way for my life to work out? ⁣

It’s an opportunity, not a tragedy.⁣
