(I can't share the link, so see article pasted below) The explosion of advertising and normalizing gambling culture is going to be problematic. You cannot turn on a game and not be inundated with ads and announcers making their picks. Online gambling poses significant dangers, particularly for young men who may be more susceptible to its allure. The immersive nature of digital platforms can create an illusion of easy money, leading to impulsive decisions and excessive spending. Young men, often in a stage of identity exploration and risk-taking, may underestimate the risks involved, potentially resulting in financial hardship and addiction. The anonymity of online gambling can also foster unhealthy habits, making it difficult to seek help or recognize when behavior becomes problematic. Ultimately, the combination of high accessibility and low barriers to entry can trap vulnerable individuals in a cycle of gambling-related issues.

Addictions Counsellor Sounding Alarm Over Online Gambling
An advocate for men’s mental health is sounding the alarm about the prevalence of online gambling and the problems it poses to those living with addictions.
Bill Jeffrey is the founder of the Lonely Man Project and is an advocate for men struggling with, and masking, depression and other serious mental health issues.
He’s also a certified addictions counsellor and has seen several people coming to him since the “explosion” of online gambling.
“Some of the dangers you’re looking at is addiction, compulsive behaviour and the financial risks that come with that. People are accumulating a lot of debt, mental health issues, there’s stress, there’s anxiety, there’s a lot of isolation and loneliness,” he told VOCM.
He says relationships suffer, and there is a real danger posed to underage people who can lie about their age when participating in online gambling.
