Are you fed up of being told that you should just do as you are told and not know what is going on in your own body?

I feel like there is a bit of superiority in healthcare in general that tells people to just do as they are told and not to question the advice. However, I am strongly opposed to this. I think it’s your right to have a basic understanding of how your body uses nutrients and I hate the idea that we just have to trust the practitioner. When I couldn’t get the answers I wanted I learnt about the human body and now I teach you about how your body works so you can make empowered choices that help your health! 

You need to know not only your “why” for making changes, but also the “why” behind the things that I ask you to do. This shouldn’t be complicated, so let’s start with understanding and compassion and we will all do a lot better healthwise!

Quick tips for how I I get through the week!!

Boil 12 eggs for snacks or lunchtime protein
Keep tinned tuna in your pantry
Cook a cup of quinoa to throw in with meals or use as an oatmeal base
Frozen meat that I keep all year around
Premix your seeds and keep in a glass jar

Most of my clients are my clients because they’ve met me a couple of times. They hear me talk about nutrition and realise I have a different approach! They connect with me, they feel safe, seen, heard, supported and that’s why they come to me.

I am very proud of that fact. I go to events because I enjoy them and it’s a great way to meet new people and build my community in London. I love it here and I’m loving meeting more and more people in this wonderful community!

You have to be willing.

Here’s the thing about working with me - it will never be a quick fix. I don’t do six week challenges just to lose water weight, I don’t do fad diets that encourage you to ignore your body’s signals, I don’t do complete overhauls in two sessions.

Here’s what I do….

Firstly you need to know that there will be some work.

You have to be willing to do some real work. You have to be willing to make changes to your diet long-term. With that being said - we do it slowly, we do it sustainably, we do it without judgement, we do it so it becomes a habit and lasts you a lifetime. We also make sure there are fun and exciting foods in there because what's joyful about a restrictive diet with nothing fun to eat?

But you still have to do the work. I am your guide. I am your educator. I will tell you how your body works so that you know why I’m giving you the information that I do, but I can only do so much for you.

That’s the challenge. A lot of people have that as a barrier to health so tell me are you ready for the challenge?

What an incredible day!! I had the pleasure of attending event last week and it was inspirational and fun!

The speakers talked of the grit and determination that they have had to use to get to where they are and the panel answered questions on how to manage life and reduce burnout!

My biggest takeaway is to try to do the things you are good at and the things that make you feel more energised to reduce the burnout that you feel! Oh and I learned that when you hold one iphone to another they are magical!!!!!!!! Showing my age here!! HAH

So many incredible women in this room and what made it EVEN better is the men that came to be allies and support what they were trying to do!

I had the honour and privilege of attending Tech Alliance’s Polaris Pitch last week!

We had an incredible keynote speaker from Dragons Den who told us about the grit and determination it took to get to where she is today and how when you fail faster you learn quicker and move onto the best ideas of your life!

We saw some truly inspirational businesses that really could change the way of the future.

What I really thought about when I saw these speaker is how I can link it back to my health journey. Every one of these people saw a need for something and wanted to provide a solution…. I went back to school to provide a solution to the fact that my kids were dropping down the percentiles and were massively medicated from birth, I wasn’t happy with the responses I got so I went out and fixed it myself.

That’s why I do what I do now! I find solutions to your symptoms. We work together and I figure out what's going on and what we need to do to support your body to heal.

What’s your biggest health challenge right now?

Endocrine disruptors were making me sick and I didn’t even know it. An endocrine disruptor can stop the efficacy of your hormones communicating properly. When you use regular cosmetics, shampoos and cleaning products the chemicals in them change the shape of receptors so that the hormone can’t lock onto it properly.

Think of this like a lock and key - the lock is the receptor and the hormone is the key, when the lock changes shape, the key just isn’t going to fit. When the key doesn’t fit, you can’t get in the door.

When our hormones can’t get in the door, the body can’t receive communications that make a huge difference to the way the body functions. If you can do one thing towards your health, use clean, green products that don’t have endocrine disruptors in them.

For my London clients I recommend this gorgeous location Mon Papillon Spa, because they use clean products that aren’t going to have these negative effects. Honestly you won’t believe the difference you can feel just from making these changes.

It’s nutrition month in Canada!! So what does that mean?! Well this year’s theme is nourish to flourish - which I have to be honest could not be a better theme from my point of view!! Seriously - it’s honestly the best way to think about your health!! It’s not restrictive, it's empowering!!

I will say this over and over and over again!! Forget calorie deficits, forget restrictive diets without the guidance of a professional, forget fasting and killing yourself in the gym.

Think about what is best for your body - what it’s asking you for, what nutrients does it need to function!

One of the most ironic things about working in the wellness industry is telling everyone to get off their phones while promoting wellness services and products on social media!! HAHAH 😅

However, while I think it would be impossible to get off our phones altogether at this point, I do think it’s important to put some restrictions around it.

I switch to airplane mode an hour before bed every night. I keep my phone away from me when I am reading a book or watching a TV show that I like so I can’t just accidentally pick it up and start using my phone. I put it on focus mode when I’m doing deep work so that I can’t get distracted by pinging (you can set priority people to still ping) and I generally keep it in my bag while I am working rather than out on my desk/coffee shop table!

These things have really helped me in my health journey, I sleep better, I don’t get FOMO and I definitely have less dopamine hits!

You don’t have to do all these things at once - maybe just start with one thing and see how you feel after. There are countless apps that make you more thoughtful about the scrolling now too - so try one of those, or just simply put your phone in another room - and keep track of how many times you reach for it!
