At its September 10, 2025 meeting, 100 Men Who Care Southern Georgian Bay chose to support Brad’s Place Addiction Treatment of Southern Georgian Bay (“Brad’s Place”) by donating $12,229.
Brad’s Place was formed in 2018 by 18 individuals, galvanized by the passing of someone close to them due to drug addiction. Their vision was to create a place where youth and young adults in the Georgian Triangle area could find therapeutic guidance and support to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.
Since then, in collaboration with Bayshore Health and local youth centres, Brad’s Place has identified and supported youth and young adults seeking help to overcome substance use challenges and reintegrate as contributing members of the community.
Fifty percent of the funding received from 100 Men Who Care SGB will help launch Brad’s Place’s newest initiative, The Lucy Project: Mentorship Through Art, Story & Skill. This mentorship program pairs participants with local mentors — tradespeople, artists, farmers, and crafters — to learn hands-on skills, build confidence, and rediscover a sense of identity and purpose. Funds will cover mentor honorariums, workshop supplies, facilitation, and a community showcase.
“We are pleased to support the kick-off of Brad’s Place’s Mentorship Program,” said David Trafford, Leadership Team Member of 100 Men Who Care Southern Georgian Bay. “This donation will not only support the operational needs of Brad’s Place but also help inspire a new approach to recovery — one that shifts the narrative from stigma and shame to hope and empowerment.”
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the 100 Men Who Care Southern Georgian Bay,” said Paul Lopes, Chairman of the Board, Brad’s Place. “Their support strengthens our ability to offer meaningful programs like The Lucy Project and to build community connections that truly change lives.”
Brad’s Place also welcomes community members interested in volunteering as mentors for The Lucy Project or helping out in other ways. Those wishing to get involved can reach out through www.bradsplace.org or contact the team directly.

🎉 A Night of Celebration, Gratitude, and Community 🎉

Nov. 12 in the evening, we had the honour of celebrating Brad’s birthday alongside a major milestone — 5 years since Brad’s Place Addiction Treatment Services of Southern Georgian Bay became incorporated.

What began as a vision of hope and healing has grown into a community of compassion, resilience, and second chances. This milestone isn’t just ours — it belongs to every person who’s believed in us, supported us, and stood beside us.

To our incredible board members, staff, families, and friends — thank you for your unwavering commitment and heart.

A special thank you to Councilor John Broderick and his wife Rhonda, representing J&R Cycle, and to Austin Woodcock and Rachel Broderick from the Clearview Chamber of Commerce for joining us. Your presence and continued support remind us what community truly means, also a special Thank You to for the donation of Pizzas and for the Beautiful Chocolate/Vanilla Cake!

Five years in, and we’re just getting started. Here’s to more healing, more hope, and more lives changed — together. 💙

What's Wrong with my Teen?

Details

Addiction doesn’t just impact the individual; it affects the entire family system. In this webinar, hosted by Colette Currin, VP of EHN Guardians, we’ll explore the complex dynamics of recovery for teens, young adults, and their families with Susan Raphael, ICADC, founder of Sustainable Recovery Counselling in Toronto.

Susan brings not only extensive professional expertise but also lived experience, offering a compassionate and practical perspective on one of the most difficult challenges families face. She is an internationally certified addiction counselor with the CACCF, a referral clinician with the NBA/NBPA Clinicians’ Network, and the author of What’s Wrong with My Teen?. Her insights have been featured on The Ben Mulroney Show and the Recovering Out Loud podcast.

By attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

Identify the signs of addiction and mental health concerns in teenagers.

Differentiate between supportive parenting strategies and unhelpful patterns like “tough love” or enabling.
Apply effective communication techniques for discussing substance use with teens without triggering defensiveness.
Recognize the importance of self-care for parents, especially when navigating relapse or crises.
Understand the role of family therapy and joint activities in fostering long-term healing for the entire family system.
Support teens in balancing recovery with education, friendships, and social development.
This interactive session is designed to equip families, caregivers, and professionals with practical strategies, new perspectives, and a sense of hope.
