Auna Counselling Offering safe space to build self-awareness, discover new insight, and effect meaningful change.

Hello, my name is Rahul.

I am a male, BIPOC Registered Clinical Counsellor of Punjabi Indian descent. I hold a Bachelor's in Psychology from UCLA, and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. My path to practice has been winding and non-traditional; my lived experience affords me the ability to readily connect with and understand the needs of a diverse set of populations. At the same time, my social and cultural background affords me the ability to connect with and understand the needs of a very specific population - the Canadian South Asian community.

I treat a variety of concerns, ranging from but not limited to:

trauma and abuse
depression and anxiety
substance use
marriage and family distress
men’s issues
chronic pain and illness

My clients receive a tailored approach to care based on a combination of trauma-informed humanistic and psychoanalytic modalities including:

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion Focused Therapy
Gottman Couples Therapy

Hello, my name is Swarna. I am a first-generation immigrant, born and raised in India, currently living and working in Vancouver, Canada. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a masters in counselling psychology and art therapy from Adler University.

Having personally navigated the challenges of cultural identity and life transitions as an immigrant and woman of color, I deeply understand the complexities of balancing multiple cultural worlds. My counseling approach is shaped by both personal experience and professional expertise, allowing me to connect with and support clients in a way that honors their unique and nuanced journeys.

I have experience supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges, including grief, abuse, domestic and intimate partner violence, PTSD, relationship transitions, chronic pain, cultural struggles, intergenerational trauma, acculturation challenges, and significant life changes.

My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, integrating relevant therapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, and Adlerian Therapy.

As a trained art therapist, I also integrate creative expression to help you process and integrate when words alone may feel limiting.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, adjusting to new life circumstances, or processing overwhelming emotions, my hope is to create a safe space rooted in curiosity, authenticity, and compassion, where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to reclaim your strength and move forward with clarity and self-compassion.

Hello, I’m Nivedita. I’m a South Asian, BIPOC therapist, born and raised in India, and now living in Canada after graduating my Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.

As an immigrant woman of colour, I know how powerful it is to feel truly seen, heard, and supported — especially when you’re navigating the in-between spaces of culture, identity, and where you belong.

For over 8 years, I’ve worked with people from different cultures and walks of life, going through trauma and abuse, women’s issues, intimate partner violence, su***de ideation, anxiety, grief and loss, cultural challenges, and those quiet struggles that don’t always get noticed.

I offer a warm, intuitive, and collaborative space, grounded in cultural sensitivity with deep respect for your story. Here, you don’t have to explain away your feelings or prove your pain — your presence is enough. Healing unfolds at its own pace, and I’m here to walk alongside you in that process.

I use a mix of approaches like Gestalt Therapy, nature-based work, somatic practices, and Internal Family Systems to support healing in your mind, body, and spirit. I also welcome spirituality into the room when it feels meaningful to you.

Whether you’re working through past pain, getting to know yourself better, or trying to navigate life with more ease, I trust that you already have a lot of wisdom within you. We’ll go at a pace that feels safe, kind, and right for you.

Age, for many, offers wisdom, comfort: we are in our later years are able to enjoy the hard-earned fruits of our prior physical, emotional and spiritual labors.

Age, for others, steals any semblance of competence, of self-worth, of value, of dignity.

The world, as it turns out, can be a harsh place. As they age, some men become more susceptible to its external realities, its harsher realities.

This increased susceptibility with age interacts with the already existing tendency in men to not seek help when they need it - an interaction which results in the staggering loss of life we see today.

How do we support these men in our lives?

How do we, as men, better ask for it, better receive that support?

The experience of enmeshment is one that resonates with many of my clients.

Many share the feeling of being their “mother’s son”, of their “father’s daughter” - not individuals with their own unique identities.

If enmeshment is defined by a blurring of identity, then the solution is to discover, to cultivate, and to fiercely and relentlessly express your own -

Who are you?
What do you believe in? Stand for?

What is your identity?

Why is it that we don’t seek the help we need?

The ways in which you cope - have they been working for you?

What does it be a man in Canada today?

Supporting the men in our lives means understanding the unique ways in which they experience pain.

In men especially, cries for help are often masked by the extreme or off-putting nature in which they are made.

This isn’t an excuse for unacceptable behavior -

This is something that can be changed.

We project the outward image of success, of resilience through adversity, of the “model minority” -

We reject any deviations from the norm, any blemish to our image, any perceived dishonour within our families.

We as South Asians are very good at sweeping things under the rug - to the detriment of our community.

We can do better.
