I wish more people knew… tight hamstrings aren’t always a flexibility problem.

Sometimes, it’s a control problem.

When your system isn’t working well:
❌ Hamstrings overwork and feel tight
❌ Glutes don’t “turn on” the way they should
❌ Knees take more load than they need to

💡 I wish more people knew… flare-ups are totally normal during recovery!

A flare-up doesn’t mean you’ve re-injured yourself ❌
It doesn’t mean your rehab isn’t working ❌
And it doesn’t mean you’re back to square one ❌

Most flare-ups happen because your body was asked to do a bit more than it was ready for yet. It’s all part of building strength, tolerance, and getting your body back to where it needs to be 💪

Frustrating? Yes. But it’s also a sign you’re progressing, not failing.

One of the biggest reasons people don’t get better as fast as they could in rehab isn’t because they’re not trying.

It’s because they don’t fully understand what their exercises are for.

When you understand your exercises, you:

➡️ Do them more consistently
➡️ Do them correctly
➡️ Know what you should be feeling
➡️ Know what you’re trying to improve
➡️ Stay more motivated because you see the purpose

Our Story and Approach

Our Story:

Koonar Physiotherapy opened its doors in February 2008. Michael Koonar, a Master in Physical Therapy graduate of The University of Western Ontario and second generation Physiotherapist, couldn’t wait to provide a unique brand of physiotherapy services to the Windsor-Essex community. What began in 900 sq.ft. as Michael, providing the patient care, and Casey, running the front desk, has grown to a multidisciplinary, multi-centre, rehabilitation brand known for high-quality care in a positive and compassionate environment. Michael and Casey are still working hard daily and are joined by an amazing team of 20 health professionals and support staff. Growth is based simply on hard-work, a dedicated interest in patient success and a solid reputation in the community. A proud member of the local community we have raised trophies with both the Windsor Spitfires and Windsor Express, but it is the success in clinic with our patients that makes us feel like champions every day.

Our Approach:

We developed the philosophy of Start Feeling Better Today! as both a challenge to ourselves and a commitment to you, our patients. We want to let you know we are as interested in your recovery as you are. From before the initial assessment, we provide a helpful voice on the phone and a smile at our front desk. The administrative team will go above and beyond to ensure your questions are answered and you start your experience on the right foot. Your therapist will spend the time to fully understand your condition and you will undergo a comprehensive assessment. During this time you will be provided with education and information about why you are suffering and the plan we have to help achieve your recovery goals. Feeling better today isn’t just about pain relief, it is about knowing you are in a place that cares about you, informs you and has the means to address your concerns. A successful rehabilitation is teamwork between our therapists and you the patient. We are committed to your success and are excited to get started on that road to recovery.
