While it may seem unnecessary to warm up before raking the leaves, preparing your property for the colder months, or even going on a light walk, your body will thank you later. With cooler temperatures, the body tends to tighten up as the drop in temperature causes muscles to lose some of their elasticity. This can lead to increased stiffness in both muscles and joints, making them more susceptible to injury. Cold weather also affects circulation, causing reduced blood flow to the extremities, which can further contribute to tightness and decreased range of motion.

It’s especially important during the fall to take extra precautions such as warming up properly, dressing warmly to keep muscles loose, and maintaining good posture while performing activities to reduce the risk of strain and injury.
