Alyssa offers myofascial cupping!

What is cupping?
Cupping helps target and break up fascia. By using an upward suction (as opposed to downward pressure used in massage), cupping separates the layers of fascia releasing adhesions that may be present.

What is fascia?
Fascia is a dense connective tissue that en capsules all muscles and organs of the body. It allows muscles to slide smoothly over other structures. Fascia contains receptors that transmit pain signals to the brain.

Benefits of myofascial cupping:
Reduce pain and tension
Improve mobility
Promote circulation

Does cupping hurt?
No cupping should not hurt. It may cause some discomfort at first but the feeling should quickly go away. Sometimes you don’t even feel the cups are there! Cupping does leave circular marks where the cups sit, but these marks should not hurt!

Alyssa graduated with honours from the Massage Therapy program at Georgian College in 2021. Since graduating, she has completed additional courses in therapeutic cupping, kinesiology taping, athletic taping, and most recently, RAPID Neurofascial Reset. She has experience working with all ages, and many different conditions including headaches, migraines, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, scoliosis, sciatica, jaw pain, joint replacements, and pregnancy. Alyssa looks forward to helping you reach your treatment goals.
