This is a tough one, and unfortunately, since it's so personal, there is no easy and perfect answer. But I can tell you that there are two keys to losing weight: consistency and patience. So, focus on setting reasonable weight loss goals and giving yourself ample time to lose weight. Focus on character and not perfection. Weight loss is about the long run, so don't expect to lose all the weight overnight. A good rule of thumb is to never expect to lose more than two pounds per week. And finally, focus on yourself, not others. It's easy to lose weight when you are motivated by the support of others, but when you are laughed at or mockers, it's not so easy.
