What you see on the outside does not reflect what is happening on the inside. I encourage all of you to check in on the people in your life and let them know that you are there for them.

Last week, someone from the community I grew up in took their life. They were in their 30s, had two young children, and an abundance of family and friends who cared for them. On the outside, they seemed like a ray of sunshine, however that clearly did not reflect the pain and hurt they were struggling with on the inside.

Even if it is a short text message to let someone know that you are there for them and that you care about them, reach out to your ‘people’ today. A small gesture like that can go a long way🤍

This is something I tell almost all of my clients. Therapy is a journey - a process - and nobody ever said it would be easy! When discussing and processing your traumas, your fears, your feelings, and even your negative thoughts, it can be emotionally exhausting and can cause you to question whether it’s even worth it. That is when I remind my clients that although it feels uncomfortable and distressing, it will get easier and better. Don’t give up on yourself, and don’t give up on the process🤍

Slips are a when we regress in our progress - this is very common in the healing process and happens to almost everyone. Slides are more than falling back a few steps; they are when we find ourselves reverting back to our old ways. In order to prevent slides from happening, it’s essential to validate the slips as they happen - it’s OKAY to have your moments, they are a part of being human. Validation is key 🔑 and keeps you moving along your path🤍

Identifying the source of your anxiety is the first step in understanding how to better manage it. Close your eyes, take a breath, and ask yourself where in your body you’re holding your anxiety. Once you identify that, lean into the anxious feeling and explore what is driving it. I hold the majority of my anxiety in my chest, and the source has historically been my struggle to create a healthy work-life balance. Comment below to share your experience with this exercise and what you uncover about your anxiety and where/what it may be stemming from🤍
