Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) and the Quebec government have reached an agreement-in-principle to delay and amend Bill 2—which was designed to implement a physician salary model that incorporates performance targets. The bill's application has been suspended until February 28, 2026.

CAS recently released a position statement outlining serious concerns with Bill 2 related to patient safety, workforce stability, and the interprofessional care team effectiveness. These issues were raised by our members both in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada. We welcome the decision to delay Bill 2’s application so that amendments that ensure patient safety and access as well as physician engagement and well-being receive due consideration.

CAS' public-facing website section helps patients and their loved ones understand how anesthesiologists keep them safe before, during, and after they go into an OR—as well as how to support young children facing a procedure.
