Petatree is pleased to announce that it has secured a fulfillment contract with Tree Time, one of our two growers, for the supply of tree saplings through the 2021/2022 Winter season.
Due to Tree Time’s advancements in growing, storage and shipping technics, Petatree can and will continue to provide pet owners with a selection of both deciduous and coniferous tree types, all native to the Canadian growing zones. Tree Time’s ability to understand and respond to the particular needs of pet owners is a great value to Petatree toward ensuring them a quality memorial product year round. During the Winter months, pet owners can use the Petatree Planter as part of their Petatree Memorial Kit, allowing their tree to be planted and grow either indoors or in a protected outdoor area until the Spring.

We are proud to have a "completely Canadian" story to tell. From product development and manufacturing to cremation and tree choices, everything we do and every company we do it with is Canadian.

Petatree is also a fully sustainable company. Our composite fibre urn and planter construction is designed to completely compost within 30 -60 days after burial and planting.

We use only Aquamation as the preferred cremation process which is carbon neutral.

When Petatree first started, it was designed to provide pet owners a positive way to navigate through the end-of-life process of their pets.

But as we learned the full scope of this journey, we quickly realized that you, the pet professionals, are exposed to this process on a daily basis, with little or no support.

Petatree turned to experts: MaRS of Toronto, Innovation Guelph, RIC of Mississauga and the U of T along with researchers who have written the two leading research papers on this subject for the CVMA and the AVMA to develop a program designed for pet professionals that is "proactive" in its design toward dealing with Compassion Fatigue and Bereavement guilt before it manifests itself emotionally and within the culture of your clinic.

For years now, more pet owners and veterinarians have opted for cremation as a way to deal with the end-of-life process of their pets. In Canada, almost 80% of pets who die are cremated every year.
But lately, the cremation process has come under scrutiny as our culture responds to climate change.
In fact, the cremation of one pet releases 230 lbs of C02 into the atmosphere. In a country that cremates 800,000 pets a year, that is a seriously big carbon footprint, - or paw print - which is expected to grow by over 4% a year over the next 5 years. But just when it looks like another cause of climate change is growing out of control, enter the tree. The average tree absorbs 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and can re-capture 1 ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old. In other words one tree can capture the C02 produced by the cremation of a pet in under 5 years. And then, that same tree continues capturing C02 over its lifetime.
